Okay...fake dreads. Get some hair paste or better yet Paul Mitchell has some stuff that is like hair glue....sorry, I can't recall the name of the product right now....anyway, take strands of hair and begin twisting the hair with the paste or glue product. Then spray the hair strand with a super firm hold hair spray. Dry the strand with a shot from the blowdryer, then reapply another shot of hairspray. Repeat on strands all over your head. Should do the trick. I've seen some stage artists use a flat iron after this process to "lock" it in with heat, by just opening and closing the iron all the way down the strand. (I would think this step would be optional)
I had a client try this for a halloween party, and she said it worked great, and people were asking her how she did it. Good luck.

I tell people to use a Mop. A NEW Mop Ha!!! You can buy a cheap one at place like Dollar General and remove it from the handle. Then you have a Stick to whack people with. Use dye for any color.

you can make dreadlocks with some thick yarn you can find in your local craft store and you can just twist pieces of yarn and then attach all of your "dreadlocks" to a hat.
