Here's the situation: I'm in the shower, I put in the condition, run my fingers through my hair (mostly because I really like the sensation of having absolutely no knots in my hair) and I come to the end. I bring my hands back to the front and... they are covered in hair! To keep it from clogging the drains, I usually stick it to the wall and throw it away after the shower, but my mom took a shower after me today and I forgot to throw it out. She says its not normal to have that much hair (usually the same amount you pull off a brush that's been used often) come out at once. I know I'm not tearing it out, I'm very careful about that.
Is there any reason I keep coming up with so much hair? Is it normal to lose that much at once, day after day? My hair is about to the upper-middle part of my back (to the bottom of my shoulder blades) and is thick with thin strands, FYI.

Normal.

Happens more and more as you age.

Nioxin is a shampoo (sold in the salon at Wal-mart) that reduces how much hair you lose. Really works, too.

im in the same boat as you. my hair falls out all the time, i get up and there are strands on my bed too. and especially in the shower. i used to comb my hair while i was in the shower with conditioner in it, and that way all the hair stays on the comb and not on your fingers. then when you are done showering you just clean the brush. it is very normal and i dont know of any girl whose hair doesnt fall out even a little. I asked my hairdresser what the reason was, and she said that the more you put your hair into ponytails the more it falls out. also a lot of the chemicals used to hilight, color, etc. also add to the constant shedding. i dont know if you have any hilights or have ever colored your hair, but if you dont then its probably the ponytails and/or stress. still you should def see a doctor to rule out the possibility of Lupus.

Hi I agree with previous answer about Nioxin - my sister in law is using it too, and it really helps with hair loss. The Just try it , or perhaps see a doctor.

If you have had an anesthetic recently, it may cause hair loss for a couple of months, after which your hair will return to normal.

maybe its because you tie your hair every day? because when you tie up your head, the hairs at your forehead (and in other areas) are pulled back, thus they come out when you comb your hair...and my mum also says that if you get old, or if your hair is unhealthy, its more likely to fall out, too...
