Makes me think I need to get that book.

Thank you so much. I have an aunt who is obsessed with this stuff, and she scared me with it when I was a kid.

Why would anybody wish to read a book about a history of the end of the world when we have the answer in the Word of God. Anybody can write a book but God's Word will stand forever. Psalms 12: 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Psalms 12: 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. The Apostles Paul wrote in the first century by inspiration of God not in the 19th century. 1 Thessalonians 4: 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1 Thessalonians 4: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

I don't think that there will be a 7year tribulation with a future anti-christ and a pre-tribulational rapture. What I believe is that at the Second Coming of Jesus which will occur at some point in the future(no one except God the Father knows when), He will cause everyone's bodies to resurrect and every person's soul will go back into our bodies and our bodies will be transformed into eternal bodies and then will be the final judgement. The believers will go to be with God in the New Jerusalem forever and the non-believers away to eternal conscious punishment. For more info you can go to www.equip.org for this interpretation of the Bible.

The rapture is a concept pulled from the Bible (Thesallonians). That makes me feel that someone on the list is being verbose about things that the Bible has remained true about from the start!

How do you interpret I Thessalonians 4:16-17?

"For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel's call and with the sound of God's trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever."

Why would I read a book about the bible when I can read the bible? Honey....if Thessalonians tells us we will be caught up and meet the Lord in the air...what do you call that!

Hi Kermit....
If you are a believer, than the rapture:true/false means nothing anyways to you in regards to salvation, because you are looking for Jesus correct.
If you are not a christian, than the rapture:true/false means nothing anyways to you-BECAUSE YOU DO NOT BELIEVE THE REST OF THE BIBLE *FOR SALVATION.

To respond to your question however...
For christians "looking for the rapture" It is because they are looking for a soon and coming savior to rule and reighn here on earth and to end wickedness after 1000years are up approx.

For those christian or not- NOT looking but believe some of the bible, a soon one world dictator will rule the world, incarnated by pure evil.

so, your either looking for the messiah, or for the false one.

Rapture, the word itself, is a man made concept. But it is founded on scripture just as much as there is logic in saying there is a Trinity. That is a man made concept as well, but also scripturally based.
