coffee, like all addicting substances, is hard to quit, but once you get over it, your energy returns stronger than before
my wife never drank coffee (ever in her whole life)
we had five children and the oldest was 8
my wife amazed me with her energy, her calm, and her way with children (WITHOUT coffee)
once you get your body to the point where it isn't deliberately slowing down because it is expecting a big stimulant, then your body will stay "up" on its own
not easy to get there, but great when you get there

I don't usually drink coffee and when I do it is decaf. I avoid caffeine because it traps you in a horrible cycle that makes you feel worse and more worn down in the long run.
I exercise first thing in the morning. I get up early so i have at least an hour to myself before my kids get up. Exercise gives me the energy I need for the rest of the day. I also eat nutritious foods. I don't drink soda or eat junk. Most moms i know who have problems keeping up during the day drink way too much soda and eat a lot of really bad food. I also have a schedule i use as a guide for my day. That helps a lot. I don't follow it to a t, it is simply a guide but it helps keep me on track.

I'm a mom of five and I had a bad addiction to Mt. Dew not too long ago. I was drinking a twelve pack a day just to keep up and it got to the point where my health started to take it's toll. The easiest way I cut down was drinking propel fitness water. I would alternate soda and the water. Within the first 2 weeks, I cut my caffine intake down to half. It was a struggle at first....your body becomes dependent on that caffine and if you quit too fast (cut out too much too soon), your body will have reactions. I made that mistake and I ended up with severe migraines. It is possible honey, your body will learn to take it's energy from stored fat (it's a shame almost all us mother's have that) like it's suppose to, rather than from the caffine. Just take it slow. Start replacing one cup a day with something else and move up from there when it doesn't bother you. I now only drink three sodas a day. One to wake me up, one mid-day and one after dinner so I get the rest of my chores done before I wrestle the kids into bed. If it can work for me, it can work for anyone....I was a basket case.

Ok. you're exhausted. Go get a physical. Make sure Mom's good. Then talk with your doctor about nutritional support. Ask if you should take a multi vitamin with iron in the mornings. You can go to your local GNC and get advice and very good product. Ask about meal supplementation. Instant food in a can. Because you don't eat what you're supposed to eat to support your system.
Do have anyone not in school take a nap. In their beds. Go crash on the couch with a pillow or two. Everybody needs an hour or two of down time.
Try to establish an evening routine of dinner, bath and bed. This allows you to have a bath and call a friend and focus on yourself at the end of the day. The more you support your system, including stress relief, then you'll have more stamina.

OMG, I know what you mean. No coffee because it makes me sleepy for some reason. For me it's Dr. Pepper. I started drinking it daily when my child was born. It's like crack or something. Once I start I just can't kick it even though it is probably the reason I am so tired to begin with. I'm no expert since I have never been able to quit for more than a month but I think you just have to go cold turkey. I tried Citrimax for a while(it's a diet supplement w/ garcinia cambogia fruit extract) and noticed that it did stop the cravings... all of them.

I usually don't drink coffee or caffeine of any type. Some days I do have a small cup of coffee or tea but usually only if I am going on a road trip. Driving just makes me tired.

If you get a good answer, let me know! I used to never drink coffee either until our oldest got very sick, had surgeries etc. I then needed coffee, and it frustrates the heck out of me too!!! I wish I could give you some advice, but actually need it myself! That third child, think that does you in with the ability to keep up, energywise, at least that's what I/we have found! Good luck! Please keep me posted, if you get a good answer! : )

I have tried to quit coffee several times... obviously I have failed. Coffee makes me cranky, intolerant and very irritable BUT, it also helps me wake up and face the rushy morning in a very efficient way.
I know there are that kind of mummies, but not me
