I can't think of a particular name for a diet like that. However, eating a lot of fruits and vegetables will help you have a balanced diet. It would not be healthy to eat a diet that consisted of only fruits and vegetables.
If you can afford it I would recommend the nutri-system diet. Your meals are planned out for the entire month. Or if there is a Curves near you they have a really great diet and exercise program, that has a lot of fruits and vegetables on the menu.

My sister was on this diet once...1/2 an hour before every meal she ate 1/2 a grapefruit. No snacking in between meals though. They she just did simple exercises at home for about 1/2 an hour a day. She lost allot of weight and it stayed off when she went off the diet. I think the key was that the grapefruit before the meal filled her up so she wasn't as hungry with very few calories, plus over time helped to work as a natural laxitive. Good luck.

I recommend a yogurt diet. It is mostly fruit and calcium but you get protein too. Just have a cup for lunch and a cup for dinner. Eat a wholesome and healthy breakfast with very little fat Steak and eggs is a better meal than sausage and eggs. Sausage gravy can be poured over a bagel instead of biscuits to reduce calories too. Your best bet would be something with a lot of protein though but my grandparents advise you eat a bowl of cereal with one cup of milk or oatmeal would do the trick. A lot of diets fail because they focus on one food group (Atkins) You need all 6 in moderation to maintain a healthy balance. Also 30 minutes of exercise each day.

From the top....

Your body takes in fuel by eating, and then burns it off by exercise.

If you take in more than you burn, you store the extra in fat cells. If you burn more than you take in, the fat cells are emptied.

Soo... guess what? You gotta burn more energy than you take in, in order to lose weight. It's that simple. Really. One HARD hour on the treadmill (and I mean HARD, running and walking on an incline) is good for one super-sized order of fries (600 calories).

Some hints here:

1. The body burns carbs first, then fat cells, then fibers, then other stuff. If you limit the amount of carbs (beer, sugars, etc) then your body goes to fat cells quicker. This is also why athletes eat tons of pasta the day before a big contest, and then down sports drinks w/ tons of carbs -- they don't have much fat in their fat cells, and need the energy quick. Conversely, if you want to lose weight, limit the carbs and head towards the fibers.

2. Fruit has tons of sugars in them, and hence, tons of carbs. Don't get me wrong, fruit is very healthy, but you just need to watch how much fruit you take in.

3. If you don't learn to balance exercise and eating now (and NOT with silly fad diets), you're gonna suffer for the rest of your life. Find an activity that you like to do, and start moving your diet to foods that don't make you fat (ie, NO FRIES).

i think that diet is called vegetarian. But i do know that the south beach diet is very good, but it is the opposite of what diet you are looking for, it has you cut out all sugars, sweets and carbohydrates for the first two weeks, then after that, you can gradually add in those foods that you still wanna eat, but in moderation! Hope this helps. You can lose anywhere from 5-12 lbs in the first 2 weeks.

If you eat too much fruit, you will have diarhea, which may cause excess water loss (and feel like weight loss).
