No, I don't think so. There are words that are more abused - God, for example, or hell.
Love is abused, in some ways. Not as much as others, though.

No - but it certainly would qualify for being one of the most used words and it has so many meanings as well... depending on the eyes of the viewer.
It's such a powerful word that people will use it a lot to try and describe many things. So yeah, it can certainly be abused, but mostly I think people are just trying to convey feelings, even if they don't always understand what they are or if those feelings are confused.
Personally, I think it's not just the word that is important, but the connection it implies for that person.

I tend to agree because people love with expectation of what they'll get instead of what they'll give.
And, people love from their own experiences. For instance, someone may tell me they love me, but it's from their point of view and in the best way they know how to love. But, from my point of view, they possibly couldn't....
So, yes, it's the most abused, most misunderstood human term. Love is a choice, not a feeling (it doesn't make your heart flutter when you're in love).
Not to sound church-y, but the greatest example of love is the love of the Lord - the perfect example, yet hard to follow.

No...I think it is the best word. I love the fact that you took time to ask the question. It shows your love for the world. Now go out and write a love song *S*.

Is love even a real word, as in it's listed in the dictionary?
I thought that was a made up thing! You mean that you can really care about somebody else that much?
This is a crazy topic....where's my Webster?
