No man knoweth another destiny. Part of the joy in life is to wait and see what's in store.

Go to this website. www.purposedrivenlife.com trust me I was wondering the same thing and I also dont have any outstanding talents or natural abilities. But I read the book "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren, and I realized that God does have a purpose for me and I am here for a reason. That is to serve the Lord in all that we do. Its good that you asked that question because the Lord said seek and ye shall find. You just have to look for it. Its not easy but you can start by reading that book. GOD bless!
"For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible,... everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him." Colossians 1:16 (the Message)

Why do you need to stand out in order to be part of God's plan? God usually used ordinary people to do his will (Jesus was a common carpenter, and Peter was a fisherman -- none of them were rock stars).
Why not bring glory to God at the job that you are at by doing it well, as Paul said? And what is stopping you from helping the people around you, like your neighbors & coworkers, with their problems as James & John said?
If that is too trival for you (and nothing done for God is trival), then try volunteering for odd jobs around the church. They need ushers, janitors, grounds keepers, etc. And you can always volunteer to help out at the local homeless shelter (or start your own ministry by handing out homemade sandwitches to the hungry). Use your imagination.
If you are asking about what career to prusue, that is a different question.
As for struggling with depression and/or lust, just about everyone struggles with both of those to one degree or another. You sound normal for a 24 year old.

If you arer still looking for a way to serve God, this might give you an idea or two:

I am also 24 and going through the same thing. It is not always easy knowing what God wants you to do with your life. All I can tell you is to pray and read God's word. If you live your life for Christ and follow His teaching, everything else will fall into place. I struggle with it all the time. You just have to be willing to give God complete control of your life and trust Him. God will speak to your heart. Just know you're not alone. I have many friends that feel the same way as you and I do.

I strongly suggest that you stop thinking about it as "god's plan" for you. There is no god, and as long as you believe that there is, you're going to wander aimlessly through life, or worse.
Someday you're not going to exist anymore. That's still quite a few years off, but it will happen. This life is tremendously precious, and you're right now in some important formative years. Get some experiences. See some of the world outside of what you've always done.
24 years old is still pretty young to be worrying about not having found your purpose - I'd give it another ten years. But don't waste those years.

You may never know what your purpose in life is or was to the end of your life. But it could be the little girl or boy you may have seen recently that you touched there hearts and changed there whole way of thinking about life. May not even been a child lets just say someone. For ever person you care about or know there is double that who care about you.

Hopefully after all of that pondering you have realized that prayer is much more effective. I suggest getting involved with your church and going to where you feel that God is leading you, not to where you think you should be. I also recommend trying a networking course which will help reveal your spiritual gift. But most importantly, PRAY! God has a plan for all of us, he didn't forget about you. Be steadfast and know that God will do good things through you if you allow it! :)

I know just how you feel. be patient, tho pray about it offend.
Sometime it takes time, God perhaps is still building you for that purpose. sometimes God would lead us through a lot of problems in order to build us. be open and understanding to what God has in store, and patient sometimes it takes eighty years. God allows things like depression for example, to where you gain the experience to help others, cause you know what their going through, you feel their pain, you have the knowledge to help since you have the learning experience. I hope you understand what I mean, that was an example, pray an ask God.
God bless

Bless your heart! One thing for sure is that you are seeking God's will in your life. I also wonder what God's plan is for me, but I just ask him for the opportunity to share my faith in the Lord. Sometimes as a Christian we want to do great things, like Billy Graham does, or have a beautiful voice to share with millions of people. But most of us aren't called for that kind of ministry. There is a calling for you, maybe it's a simple as greeting people at the front of the church on sunday, or driving the kids to church camp. It doesn't have to be a glamorous job, it just has to be where God wants you. Ask your minister where they need help, and then continue to pray for the Lord to show you where he wants you to be. Continue reading your bible, praying & going to church,
HE will help you.
Lord Bless

The bible tells us exactly what God would have us do on this earth. He asks for us to do justly, and to love mercy. Jesus asks us to love others, pray for them. God says, consider others better than ourselves. The bible admonishes: be merciful, forgiving, loving, kind, humble, compassionate. Serve others without complaining or drawing attention to yourself.
This is the hardest thing to do: get up each day and be the light of Christ in a world where people are angry, stressed, in a hurry, rude, unhappy. Then get up the next day and do it all over again.
It is not glamorous, is it? It's not supposed to be. But Jesus did promise this: "he who seeks to keep his life will lose it, but he that loses his life for my sake, will find it". Give up your rights, turn your life over to God for His use. Then you will find your true self and your true purpose.
