it is fine to mix and match to add some color to the room.

It what u like. It shouldn't matter if u have a whole rainbow of color. But u don't have to match the pillows on the love seat. U can have 1 of each style, and put and on the couch if u put 3 make 2 of 1 and 1 of the other, r all 3 alike. Its how u use them. If u have 4 then 2 each (then u couldn't have 3 of 1 kind and 1 of the other.) Anything appealing to the eye. Its your STYLE and no one can tell u what u like but u. Have a nice one.

Don't match! Mix them up. Matching is boring. The only thing you need to be sure of is that the colors go together in some way. I have a dark sage green couch with 2 plaid pillows and 2 with a floral print. The colors in both are similar. On a nearby chair I have a completely different pillow. When everything matches, it isn't interesting. Do what appeals to your eye and don't worry about "rules".

Matchy, matchy is not a good thing. Just make sure you have similar colors on the pillows on both couches. In other words, don't put white on one couch and blue on the other. Put white and blue one both couches.

Use an odd number of pillows on your sofa... Mix colors and textures and patterns. Use two of one pattern, 2 of another..and the center one totally different. Depending on what other colors you have going on in your decor... a nice touch with the black would be an icy teal and a complimentary soft yellow. 2nd choice would be a combination of turquoise and lime. Have fun.. express yourself !

Why don't you mix them all up together...? Try putting design ones with solid color ones.... Use your imagination... and it's not like painting. If you don't like it, it's really easy to change pillows around....

You can mix and match and have some fun!
There's no one to say you have to have all matching pillows on each couch. Keep them all COORDINATED and you'll be fine.

I think that is totally up to your own personal preference. There is nothing wrong with mixing and matching throw pillows. Be unique decorate the way you want it to look not the way everyone else wants you to make it look.

I think it all depends on what you like and what you think looks good. I have a off white couch with a maroonish and gold trimmed throw pillow on it... I also have light lavender and white throw pillows. I alternate them depending on what i feel like looking at.
