This is easy. Even more easy since you eat bannanas. Put the bannana peals into your oven on a cookie sheet just an hour or so before bed. Then Close the oven door and turn on your oven to 350 for 30 min. and bake those suckers! They will be attracted to the peels and then you can kill em. Good luck!

The fruit flies come in with the bananas. They hatch after you bring them home. Wash and dry your bananas with a solution of dish detergent and water, then rinse and dry. The bananas should be left in a bunch to do this, so the detergent does not get into the banana itself. Make sure to secure the peels in an air tight plastic bag. It is best if you can take them out immediately. Don't put your bananas in the fridge. They will turn brown.

The Good News: Those litter suckers only live for 24 hours. The bad news: They multiply faster than bunnies!! I opened a bottle of wine tonight and they were EVERYWHERE!! I even went so far as to put all my fruit (including the bananas) in the fridge. It turned the bananas brown. I don't see them unless there is fruit out (which I don't have), or I open a bottle of wine. My girlfriend told me to put bleach down my drains (esp. in kitchen) because that is where they breed. I guess that's why you don't see them unitl you leave something out. They are hanging out in the sink. So, I dumped some bleach down the drain and I hope that works. OH, and don't clean with anything fruit scented like Orange Clean or anything like that. Stick with bleach and Lysol type stuff.

Looks gross - but works
half fill a plastic lidded bottle with a mix of water and maple or whatever syrup, a spoon of marmite/promite/vegemite (has something to do with the yeast). Make a hole in the lid just big enough for the suckers to enter, and Voila they drown or can't get out!!!
We had to hang them in fruit trees whenever there was an infestation - it worked fairly well!

First, clean your home of any sugary residue. second, keep your bananas and other food for that matter aas well in a sealed container, plastic wrap, plastic bag or refrigerator. fruit flies also do not like a cold climate. Cool your house down a bit.
