A lot of people claim Islam is a violent religion and blame that for terrorism. The real cause is that many muslims in the middle east feel that they have been thrown off their land, live in harsh oppressed countries, and have little education. That would be enough to create violence in any culture. I understand that the Muslim/Jewish/Christian conflicts are a factor, but not the main one. If the above conditions were fixed then I believe Muslims would be as peaceful as any other religion, as most of them are right now anyways (I am not any religion btw). Why do people ignore all these genuine problems?

1. Thrown off what land? look at a map.
2. Thier own Muslim rulers oppress them
3. Their own Muslim rulers do not want them to be educated, it would lead to democratic reform. Most of the middle east governments are monarchy's and that would be bad for the royal families.
4. Don't sympathize with them... Would you be sympathetic to someone who burnt your house down because they were mad at you? or broke into your house and stole your goods because they were broke? If not, then why would you sympathize with someone who wants your entire country either converted or destroyed??

It is a good question in a way. Yeah the leaders are terrible. It is they and the fanatic mullahs who brainwash youth into terrorism. But in a way it is the peoples fault too that they allow a dictatorship type of govt to run. The more the people get scared and oppressed by those rulers the more they will terrorize you. I believe it is the job of the people of that nation to come out in mass protests in the favor of true democracy and educate the youth. If the people do not do this, the dictators will continue their oppression and it will become a never ending cycle. I agree if education is there then quite a few problems will be solved. But who will give those people education etc etc?? The dictators?? I dont think so. Because all they want is to divide the people on the basis of religion and stay in power till they are alive and then pass on the baton. I think it is up to the people of the country to determine their future and how they want to lead their lives. If they
want to stay like this, as an oppressed lot then i pity them and nothing can be done and i think in that case they deserve it too. But if they are willing to come out in favour of democracy, protests for the same then no one can stop them from having a good leader and bright future.

Actually the terroists involved with 9/11 were well educated middle class people, not the the kind you refer to. They do however live in a oppressive country "S.A." Especially if your a woman. I'd like to hear more of Muslims against the terror. But to answer your question No.

Well living in a harsh oppressive country is one thing I am not responsible for. THEY pick there rulers.THEY choose to say nothing when there neighbors disappear and THEY choose to allow it to happen. IN THERE country and THEY are the ones responsible. But THEY choose to point the finger at everyone BUT themselves for THERE problems that THEY allow to go on IN THERE country. SO IT THERE JOB TO STOP it is there JOB to build schools and educate there people. ITS NOT MY JOB. THEY have genuine problems they should ask AMERICANS TO RUN THERE COUNTRY because THERE OWN PEOPLE ARE THE ONES STEALING AND KILLING THEM.

Because weirdly whenever someone is different from the norm in this country, the masses are just waiting for a reason to jump on them...unfortunately in this case, it was radical Islamic terrorist that did the job...

It's not just their living condition that they may not like and not all muslim countries are poor. A lot of them are oil rich. I believe the threat is because they think our society is too liberal and free spirited. To them we live like children of Satan.

look into 'jihad'.go to catholic.com and there is a section entitled endless jihad,that may help some broader understanding on the issue. I'm tired of the rants on Islam to but they are a threat, either way each to their own i guess.
