Today when I was doing the lab at school. I spilled sulfuric acid on my hand. It wasn’t a lot, only a big drop, but it was burning and painful. I washed it with water for about 5-7 min. I wanted to know will there be future complications. Is there any treatment I should carry out at home?

Thanks

Don't worry about it. I worked with lead-acid batteries for years. I've had acid all over me so many times... even in my eyes and mouth! The water was a good idea, but water mixed with baking soda would have worked better. By now it has been washed away, but if it makes you feel more secure, scrub the area with the soda. No worries!

You are gonna be just fine! You have more than likely already gotten off all the acid. But, if you want - make a paste of baking soda and water and do some scrubbing about the area. If you have some soreness - red area - open skin ~ just keep the area clean, put some antiseptic on it, and a bandage. Do keep an eye on it, anything can get some infection in it ...

Enjoy your weekend and have fun with your friends ... enjoy being young! Don't worry about this! :)

Nothing there is no problem for u coz just think u have kept ur hand in fire and got burned thats it.There will be no complications in future.Iam telling this coz when iam doing Chemistry practicals in my lab one drop of sulphuric acid had fallen into my eye and my skin.
so i immediately washed my skin and my eye.But if i would not have washed it immediately then i would have become permanently blind. Now there is no problem with my eye and skin. This occured 2 years ago.Still i have no eye problem no complications.

Just normal first aid--if skin is broken use antiseptic and a bandaid.
