I asked the question of being afraid of vomiting. I was always afraid of swallowing pills too. Could it have something to do with the fear of choking?

Yea the pill thing could be a fear of choking. I have it sometimes too.

On the vomiting thing.. I fear it sometimes 'cause it friggin hurts!!
But I do know that I will usually start feeling better if I go ahead and put my head in the thunderjug and get it over with.

Or the fear of getting puke on yourself.

Seriously tho:

Fear of vomiting: An abnormal and persistent fear of vomiting. Sufferers of this fear experience undue anxiety even though they realize their fear is irrational. They usually are especially worried about vomiting in public and embarrassing themselves. Consequently, they often avoid office meetings, banquets, dances and other social gatherings. The anxiety produced by this phobia can cause stomach "butterflies" and nausea.

Fear of vomiting is termed "emetophobia," a word derived from the Greek word "emetos" (vomiting) and "phobos" (fear). Related English words include "emesis" (vomiting), "emetic" (that which induces vomiting, such as the syrup of ipecac used to bring up poisons) and "emetology" (the study of vomiting).

I don't think so. Before you vomit your body undergoes some very dramatic changes. Your blood pressure rises, your heart beats fast, and your gut works in the reverse mode, literally! Meaning, instead of pushing the food in the gut forward, it pushes it backwards. Also, you sweat and you have this feeling of heat in your mouth. That, together with nausea, creates a feeling of terrible discomfort, which actually comes from the brain. It is called the area postrema, in latin. Taken together, this is more than one good reason to be afraid of vomiting.

yes, people don't prefer taking pills because they either medically can't or they are just afraid ..I used to be afraid of swallowing those advil jell pills, and i kinda still am, cuz whenever i take one for aches i have to have a bottle of water in case i choke lol....and same thing with vomitting, people think they're gonna hurt their throat really bad if they vomit

I can't stand the reflex action and the whole vomiting thing and I feel fear but it isn't fear of choking. For me it is the feel and the gunk, etc. The weird thing is I can't stand the thing that my body is forcing myself into to get rid of whatever is making me sick. Maybe that is it, the feeling of loss of control over my body actions.

I am terrified of vomitting, only because when I have the misfortune of being sick, and I do vomit, there is a brief period where I cannot breath, and I begin to panic, it's as if I can't draw a breath. I hate that feeling.

It could be chocking, but it also could be having something that you are not used to touch the back of your throat.

I know I am not AFRAID of vomiting except for when I was recovering from my C-section. I was afraid of the pain it would cause! I am more ticked off from vomiting.

Well,

I guess it's that horrible choking feeling you get, and that sends panic through your body. There's also that awful taste. Eurgh! Yuck.

And most people don't like to see their own vomit, either.
