the others are being rather generous
no healthy person should take more than ten minutes to run one mile
a ten minute mile is very very slow
a healthy person can actually walk a mile in fifteen minutes
if you run regularly or participate in other sports you should easily run a mile in less than eight minutes
a seven minute mile for a healthy person is a very reasonable goal and even a six minute mile is not the least bit unreasonable
however do not go out there and try so hard you pass out
gradually increase your training until you reach your goal

if you need a good one mile time do two mile runs to prepare
keep a good pace in the one mile run and finish with a sprint
