If you believe in the Bible, then you must believe that Armageddon is coming. But as to whether it will be coming soon or is a long way off, is not something that mere men are privileged to know.
The Bible cautions us not to scoff that the "day" is coming, but also warns us against listening to false prophets who say that the time is at hand. (2 Pet 3:3, 4 and Luke 21:8).
Here are a couple of quotations from Jehovah's Witness literature. You can read them for yourself and then decide if you think you should put your trust in their prophetic insight.
This is from the book called "The Time is at Hand" written in 1889: "True, it is expecting great things to claim, as we do, that within the coming twenty-six years all present governments will be overthrown and dissolved..."
Did that happen?
In 1917, they published a book called "The Finished Mystery" which said on page 485 that "in the year 1918 when God destroys the churches wholesale and the church members by the millions", that those who were left would turn to Pastor Russell (the founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses).
Did that happen?
In 1920 they published a booklet called "Millions now Living Will Never Die". It said on page 97:
"(the year) 1925 shall mark the resurrection of the faithful worthies of old and the beginning of restoration."
Did that happen?
When their previous prophecies failed, they were pretty embarrassed so they decided not to make any more specific prophecies. But they were SO CONVINCED that Armageddon was so near, that in 1971 (in a book called The Nations Shall Know that I am Jehovah, on page 216) they made this statement which they KNEW would not fail: "Shortly, within our twentieth century, the battle in the day of Jehovah will begin against..Christendom".
Did that happen?
You may want to share these quotes with your JW friend. I have included the references so that she can look them up in the publications at her Kingdom Hall Library.

No Armageddon is not coming.
You are correct there are so many wars over religion. It puzzles me why people believe in superstition. If god knows all, why would he create a world where there is so much persistent on going suffering. Sounds like the act of a sadist. You'd think people who have an addiction to worship fantasy would choose something a little more uplifting.
Most governments are far to influenced by religious fanatics, hence the wars, there is no likelihood of any government banning religion. Just those they call cults. Since they are all cults, this means those religions with the ear of it's particular government pressure to ban or bomb those that have a different fantasy.

Not Yet! There will firstly be the return of Christ and then the 7 year tribulation after which will be the thousand year reign of Christ here on earth at the end of which will be the last great battle. You need to be aware that the Jehovah Witness movement is widely known for its incorrect interpretation of the Bible and it would pay you to search out the Bible for yourself rather than be guided by them. I would recommend you read Matthew Ch.24 where Jesus talks about the end times and we see there things happening all around us and Jesus said that all there things would happen in the space of one generation which we believe is the generation living now. There is no substitute for good old fashion Bible study so if you don't have a Bible, I would recommend you buy a King James with a center concordance.

From all I've read- yes, it will come. However, there are also suggestions that a third world war will take place and people will harden more and turn away from religion and crime will escalate to unimagineable heights resulting in such that all practicising any religion will end up being persecuted for it until there are very few left on earth who actually know of the coming of the end.
I also read somewhere that the war will last 35yrs I think. So still time yet!!

Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses understand the Scriptures to teach that God's Kingdom will soon replace all earthly governments, at a battle of 'Armageddon' (Revelation 16:16).
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire
While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]
Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

Yes. It IS coming. It is in the Bible that the Goverment will ban religion.
It is also stated in the Bible that people will be murdered for believing in Christ & God.
It does state in the Bible, however, that we will NOT know the exact time it will happen. Many believe it has already begun. Personal beliefs and preferences that I do not wish to disrespect, I am sure you will get TONS of answers on this topic.
Good luck!!!

Every time that things get hairy in the world out comes this is the beginning of Armageddon. we will not know for sure until it happens and then try to survive it.
Ina way we are in the beginning of the end as the four horsemen of the Apocalypse hold sway over the Earth. War, pestilence, famine and Death are with us.

Armageddon is a valley in the middle east where the final battle with take place. If you want to call it a battle. Jesus, by His Word speaks and the enemy falls dead. The blood of the dead is as deep as up to a horses bridle.

NO! It is not coming because none of the religious beliefs are real. It's all a disturbed belief that there is a god. All religion is, is a made up story that has had centuries to be blown out of proportion, and rewritten to suite those that have ruled before our time. And if you have read the bible you will see that several more things need to happen before any of that will come to pass.
The bible and the Koran are both man made stories that have caused more pain and suffering than they have ever solved.

yeah my girlfriend was jw and that whole religon is based on fear and hell(I guess like any religon).its was said that when the american forces/government declare there is "peace and security" yhat is the start of the holy war and end of the world.but you can not beleive this relegious propaganda because thats what fuels wars in the first place.there is no possible way we could ban all religons but the focus should be put on the extremists of these groups.just my opinion..
