There is no such thing a 'sin'. there are good decisions, and bad decisions. if you feel that something is right why should you let anyone stop you?

also ... why do you all care so much about getting into ''heaven''? if you do something good for just so you can make 'god' happy, then you disgust me. you should do good things because YOU want to and YOU beileve it is right.

i was raised Catholic. I went to Catholic school for 9 years. i still attended mass with my family every Sunday [i dont enjoy it, but i do it for my family]. i have found that dropping the idea of religion has made me have more faith in myself, and that gives me much more satisfaction than when i believed in Jesus. Im not saying that you have to believe how i believe, i was just wondering how people would respond to my question. thanks for all of your answers.

( and by the way, i consider myself more of an existentialist [sp?] than an atheist. )

another note, to all those saying how if we all did what we thought it right we'd end up in a mess or whatever: knowledge, people! i still believe in caring and being a good person, of course.

I don't think anything matters as long as you are happy and others are not getting hurt. You have a good point. I guess they feel grateful and appreciative.

Of course there is sin. Someone would have to be a very dishonest person to say they have never sinned in life. Have you ever cheated, lied, stolen? That's sin.

I care about sin because sin separates me from God. I am a born again Christian, which means I have God's spirit alive within me. When I sin, I can feel it, I know I've done something wrong. I hate it! I hate the separation. Of course, if we confess, it is instantly forgiven. I love God, and His ways are perfect. They bring peace, joy, righteousness. Why would I not strive to do what is right instead of sin?

Well not everyone is concerned with sinning. I am assuming you are from America where the majority of the population is Christian and are taught that a sin is a bad thing and should be avoided lest you be condemned to hell. It comes down to how you were raised. Once something has been ingrained in your decision making process its pretty tough to ignore it. It is also in human nature to have a good guy and a bad guy. It's supposed to keep things running smoothly.

How much you know about yourself made defination in "good things" ?. If you were not taught by yr parents, teachers, siblings and friends who get all those meanings by their religions and through whole life experiences, you will be merely a level of thinking of animals which survive here by eating and sleeping and having sex. Don't you have many times doing thisngs which you know is not right? Do you think you can do all the things you know is right. All the drug addicted are not willing to be like themselves? Why most of the murders and rapers regreted for the things they did wrong only after they had committed? Do you really know? Religion is not taught to please God. It is taught to get strength to do good things. It is all for your own life. Easier said than done. Remember it.

Simple if you do several good deeds you go to heaven and if your bad deed outweight your good deeds you go to hell. Plus God has created You without him you'd probably not exist. If everyone did things how they feel then the world would be chaos. They 're certain boundaries you have to put yourself through. Someone might not know what's the difference between a good decision or a bad one and might be getting hurt at the end.

There is a way that seems right to a man and this way ends in death. Your righteousness are as filthy rags to God. So if you are just in to pleasing yourself that's what you have live your life for today because that is what is important to you and that is all you will have. you say people should do good things because they think it is good. Does that mean that all things that I judge to be good are good? If that is true there is no morality I might decide it is Good if I take what belongs to you I might feel that if I am bigger it is moral for me to take what I want, I don't think you really want people deciding for themselves what is good.

James 1:14,15 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

I think you are afraid that we who care might be right. And if we are soo wrong for caring about sinning. You know, Murdering, Killing, Raping, Stealing, Liying, etc. Then why does every nation's goverment in one way or another punish people for doing these, what you called bad decisions?

I love God because God loved me first and he put it in me to love him.

Yet, May God have mercy on you.

Sin separates you from God.

I do good to glorify God. The fruit of my life reflects the goodness of God.

first of all its God. and you do what God wants you to then you will be doing the right thing because you are good. if you live by the 10 commandments then you will live well. there is no guarantee that you will get into heaven weather you are good or bad, and no one cares if you are discusted or not. no one does anything for you. we dont owe you anything. You sound like you need to read the bible.

I geuss your saying that if a person thinks it is okay to murder another person or feels that is okay, we should just except it and move on? Maybe it is that type of thinking that makes the world the way it is, full of murder, rape, thefts, child melesters, and the list goes on and on.
