you can't prevent it:
Answer
Gray hair is typically a result of natural aging. Pigment in the hair shaft comes from special cells at the root (base) of the hair. These cells are genetically programmed to make a certain amount of pigment (melanin) at specific ages. At some point in the aging process, these cells make less and less pigment until the hair has very little pigment. White hair has no pigment, and gray hair has some but not as much as a red, black or brown hair.
Not all hairs respond in the same way or at the same time. So the graying process usually is gradual. You can't prevent graying. Some people start graying in their 30s, and some not until their 60s. Genetics likely play a strong role in graying.
People rarely go gray overnight. If they do, it's typically due to alopecia areata. This condition causes the thicker, darker hairs to stop growing before it affects the growth of gray hairs — giving the impression of graying overnight. Alopecia areata eventually causes roundish patches of hair loss or complete loss of hair on the head or body. Its cause isn't known.

The butter made from cow's milk has the property to prevent premature greying of hair. This can be massaged into the hair roots twice a week. Kunthalamrutham accelerates lush growth of hair. It strengthens the hair, prevents hair loss and dandruff. It is a precaution against premature greying of hair. It relieves headache, has a cooling effect on the eyes, and gives sound sleep. It deepens the colour of the hair and changes the brown colour to black. http://www.indianhairoil.com/kunthala1.html

don't try to prevent it........tint it!!!!!
Sorry that was really lame, I couldn't help it.
Its really nothing you can do to prevent it. Usually you just have to color your hair. My hubby's friend is 26 and he has grey hair already. He uses something similiar to "just for men" He just dies his hair the color it already is but it covers the grey!!!! I'm 26 with long brown hair and my head is full of grey already!!!! Right on the top. I don't color it but I did once before. It looked just like normal just without the grey......some for the guy.
Sorry I don't know a great cure......if I did I would use it!!! Your only real choice is to add some color.

You can't because it is hereditary. I started getting grey hair at 13 and started coloring my hair at 19. My mother was totally grey at 35. Try some hair color. Just For Men, it takes 10 minutes.

you cant prevent this, okay here goes hair is not technically turning grey. it appears to be grey but it's not.it's an optical illusion hair begins to lose color pigment it becomes translucent, if you pull a strand and look at it ,its not grey it's clear. genetics determine the loss of color pigment sometimes it can be caused by certain medications. and don't forget if you decide to color your hair you are depositing color not lightening ,the lower the volume developer the better coverage you'll attain

Nothing. . .just learn to love it. The Bible says that grey hair is a crown of glory. (Proverbs 16:31)
If that's the case, I'm downright glorious!
