I would assume you already pay the baby sitter a decent wage per hour or per sitting. Maybe you would tip if they went above and beyond by cleaning up the dishes or things like that. You could also just give your sitter a gift at the holidays if you use a regular sitter.

Well whenever I have anyone babysit for me I usually tell them what I expect from them. For example, what time the kids go to sleep, if they need to help them with their homework, what they are allowed to eat etc. If the sitter manages to follow most of my rules/guidelines and the children still had a good time I will usually give the sitter a good tip or raise what I pay them. Basically these things also help me determine if I should use them again for a sitter.

A tip? On top of the hourly pay?

I have only paid that if the sitter had to do something out of the ordinary like stay late, help with a birthday party, etc.

It would depend on the circumstances.

if they cleaned your dishes and cleaned the house or got the kids to bed faster than you could and you could tip them if they are babysitting an infant cause they would have a lot to deal with

We pay a fairly decent wage, but if we find out they are playing with the kids and doing a good job, instead of just popping in a movie, the wage is quickly increased... sure, call it a tip.

If I came home and the kids were calm and happy, and the house was clean---I would tip. Aslo some parents don't know that tipping is acceptable. Perhaps you could bring it up somehow.

If you clean up after the couple leaves. That was always what I did and usually got called back and got good pay. As a mom I can also add that when I came home and seen the house cleaned up, it always made my day even better.

I would give the babysitter some extra cash if she did extra things, like cook, clean, run errands or anything out of the regular babysitting tasks.

Daughter totally cared for and happy.
Clean/tidy livingroom (where toys are)
Dishes done and kitchen tidy
No friends over

I would gladly bump to the next hour in pay!
