Do not wash your hair every day, a set will stay better the day or two after a wash and style. Use a nice gel, I like John Freda products. You can always get a body wave, have the hairdresser set the perm on the largest to second largest perm rod that will fit in your head, that way it will not be to curly but give your style enough firmness to last a few days.

Use a professional curling iron, not a store brand one, u can get one from Sallys Beauty Supply, also Redken makes a product called HotSets, spray on each section before you curl it, it helps set it when you curl.

Use a hairspray but I don't really know any brand because I've never used one before.

my hair is like that and when i got it done i asked how do you get it to stayed curled like that she said lots of hairspray

It is easier to prevent the falling out of healthy hairs than to regrow hair in follicles that are already dormant.
