And sports activities. Americans didn't do these 100 years ago. Has religion become irrelevant in American life, since the way we live is determined by law, not by religion which everyone ignores?

I think it is because in the modern post women;s lib world, everyone is so tired from working all week and have to do everything on the weekend. When women stayed home, they got all the housework done while the husband was at work and also children didn't have as much homework to do either, and families ate together and did stuff together. Saturday was a fun day for the family and sunday was a day to go to church and visit friends and family. Heck where I work if you refuse to come to a sunday morning store meeting (held at the same time most sunday school is held) you can get written up and lose your job. If you tell an employer you can't work on sunday, they won't hire you. People don't respect the Christian religion anymore. If someone from another religion wanted a particular day off they would accomidate them. Americans have got themselves into a cycle of endless activitity to try to make themselves complete and they have forgotten the importantance of a day of reverance

That my friend is what you choose to do on your Sundays,Not quite a 100 but, 35 years ago, they played for the fun of it there were no million dollar players. We as Americans have taken Prayer out of the class-room, there will be no more "In God we trust" on the american money, We should live as Church and State....

If you ask me, America is one of the most ungodly countries in the world. People here worship money and material possesions instead of God. Even the so called religious people are religious in name only...their actions and deeds are totally apposed to the teachings of the Bible. No, America is most definetely not a Godly nation.

I agree. The Ten Commandments clearly states that we are to honor the sabbath. Yet we have doctors performing emergency surgeries and delivering babies, police patrolling the streets.WalMart is even open on Sundays...this is pure blasphemy and God's wrath will be upon us for it.

Yes, but if you watch NASCAR, an actual-factual preacher gives an invocation before the race! And half the time Morgan Shepard, who races with Jesus' name on his hood, actually manages to qualify! And if I'm *real* lucky, my wife lets me get in a situation where I'm calling on the names of God, Jesus, and several other major deities!

Resting on the sabbath is a pain, and christians only embrace the stuff that isnt a big pain.

Yeah, pretty much. Really it's only the vocal minority who still care. Even most Christians if pressed about it just shrug and get on with their lives.

because money and profits are god in America! If you can make money on Sunday by having strip bars open, pubs open, malls open, then suddenly the bible doesn't matter!

Colossians2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.

Here God is saying you can do as you please that day, but only rightious things.
