Do they drive themselves? I'm not pregnant or anything, just curious.

Yea like I'd want a woman in labor behind the wheel of a friggin vehicle! Each contraction means another man gets run over on the roadway! :-)

Babies dont just pop out. An expecting mother should be in the hospital in plenty of time before the birth. I am sure you could get a ride; a bus, subway to the hospital, if not, try an ambulance.

LOL. They certainly DON'T drive themselves. A lady in my area did that and got into a car accident and ended up delivering the baby in a canal. When your having contractions, its awfully hard to focus on the road.

My husband was deployed when my son was born so I called my mom and sister to pick me up. I wasn't single bu the father wasn't there. Some other single women I know have called a good friend (me), a taxi, an ambulance, or of course their parents.

Since there are nine months to plan for this one moment, they usually have a list of relatives and friends that are willing to take them. If not then call 911. If you are in active labor you should not drive.

I guess you could call a cab. If it was real emergency you could call an ambulance. You usually have some warning before you give birth. I actually drove myself to the hospital. When my mother was going into labor with my brother she made sure she went to the laundry mat to do laundry before she went to the hospital.

call an ambo, they will come and get you as quick as they can, and if your lucky they will stay with you during the birth... just relax, when your water breaks it doesn't necessarily mean that the baby is coming this second. the first stage can take hours, so you have plenty of time to call an ambo and get to the hospital... good luck, just remember relax and breathe, someone will be there with you even if its a nurse that's in the room

My sister-in-law found a friend who was willing to be there for the big day. The friend felt honored that she wanted him to help her through the delivery and he stayed close by during the Christmas break so that when she needed him he could be at their house within minutes.
