I believe that we try to remain true to the teachings of the Buddha. Christ also never went rampaging (except maybe when he kicked the money changers out of the temple), but many wars have been fought in his name. Perhaps if people focussed on his ideas of peace and harmony, as well as his belief that people are more important than possessions, these wars may also stop.

We are not to share the Dharma unless asked...

"In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves"
- Buddha -

Shemayramble: "Jesus Christ preached love far before Buddha did" Hmmm, somehow I find this hard to believe since Buddha was born 500 years before Jesus. And in your whole rant you came up with no example of a Buddhist holy war. You are grabbing at straws.

I don't know of any Buddhists who have gone "rampaging" in the mane of Buddha.

I'm sure there are plenty who do; we just don't hear about it on the news or anything because "omg can't make them look bad in any way." It's complete bullocks to say "because it's not their way..." Jesus Christ preached love far before Buddha did, yet there are people who don't love and yet call Christ their friend. The truth of the matter is, droning on and on about a guy who bombed an abortion clinic who claimed to be a Christian or the Islamic human bombs sells and Monks Who Ran Amok doesn't. Most people of any religion or faith don't associate themselves with the crazies, yet people still use them as a basis for "omg they evil!" ideas. Anyone sane doesn't associate themselves who cry out they follow some peaceful teaching, yet go on killing people. There are plenty of atheists who go rampaging atheism and being royally angry about those of religion. Don't kid yourself. There are plenty in every walks; just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean squat. Do not merely lie to yourself and those around you.

The Buddhists never bother anyone, and that is why i have respect for them even though I'm an atheist. They have never been the cause of any wars and are a peaceful and respecful religion. They also think logical and have great wisdom.

Nor do atheists rampage in the name of atheism.

Because they've been sitting for so long in one position meditating, they can't get up and don't have those little necklace thingies you wear when you need to call for help. Remember those commercials? "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up"

LOL I actually have no idea, other than that their religion is one of total peace.

The root problem of all problems is mind itself. We create most of our own suffering by what we think. What fills our minds all day creates our experience of what we think is real...we miss what is Real...we crowd it out and live in our imaginings...or choose not to.

Because Buddha promoted peace. Not kill those who don't believe in Buddhism.

We're biding our time big man. Plus we're having a hell of a time finding someone to teach us how to load the guns.
