We loved the car when we first got it, but it now uses about a quart of oil/month, sounds like a loud old washing machine, has no power when going up hills, and the dealership keeps telling us that there is nothing wrong with the car and that it is in "spec". People stop us on the street to ask us what's wrong with our car.

Try another dealer. If you can show proof of frequent oil changes and servicing Nissan knows some of the 2.5 engines may have been damaged by cat converters. Under 5 years and fifty thousand miles? I have replaced some engines as high as 80,000 miles. For good customers Nissan does not want to loose your business

Take it to another dealership and if they don't hear the problem ask them to do an oil consumption test.

They will change your oil and fill it up and have you bring it back in a week or two and check the oil level.

I have not had problems with my Altima, but have seen a rare occation where there are ones with problems.
