I have a valuable silver spoon passed down through generations of my family but I really want to go to Las Vegas and gamble some big money. Should I go on 'Flog It' or, in the family tradition, pass it on to my daughter?.

If its that old of an article you should keep the tradition and pass it down to the next generation. The monitary value of the object doesn't matter its the whole point of the thing being passed down through the family.......

Do not do it, you will regret this, and how will your daughter feel, knowing that you sold a family heirloom, so you could go gamble it, you wont win, you will loose the spoon, loose the money in Vegas, and possibly loose the respect of your family.

How would you have felt if your mother had done that.

Do what is right for you, a silver spoon is simply an inanimate object, as long as you feel good about yourself, sell it. However I am more concerned about your gambling problem, what will you sell next ? Will it be your soul ?

If you don't pass it on to your daughter, I'm never speaking to you again. - Chris! Just kidding, of course. But seriously, find another way to finance your right to lose money. Sent to you with a big hug and a smile from Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am 63 years old.)

pass it on to your daughter, little things like that are irreplaceable,if you want to go gambling just save some money that way when its taken you some time to get the cash you may not be so hasty in throwing it away.

not sentimental, selfish, gambling is for fools, the spoon was meant to be passed to your daughter.

pass it on to your daughter ... if you gamble it away you'll feel terrible because you'll have nothing to show for it ... if you don't feel you can resist temptation give it to a more responsible family memeber.
