I feel that Hispanics help the US a lot. I feel that our government hurts the USA and Hispanics by using them through out history. People assume that the American gov. doesn't want them here, but if that was true than I doubt that they would be here everywhere working and being able to collect benefits. There is no real answer to this question, but for personal opinions. My opinion that we Americans enjoy low prices at stores and so on and because of that Hispanics are good for the US. I am guessing that you are talking about the illegals that we are hearing about on the news.

Historically, the Hispanics helped to mold the US, specifically Texas in it's culture (phonetics, foods, dress).

Recently, the influx of honest, hardworking Hispanics seem to be out-paced by the criminal element due to the ever-growing drug trade and other cash basis industries. Mexico, specifically, seems to turn a deaf ear and blind eye to the growth of crime from it's citizens into the US. No government wants to deal with the lawbreakers, and casting them off into the US eases the courts in Mexico, and the crime lowers there as well. Mexican citizens who are convicted of crimes in America should have to waive their Mexican rights and stand trial like any US citizen and accept the justice. Mexico doesn't believe in capital punishment, so, no matter how heinous the crime, US justice can not be fully carried out, which is not acceptable.

Immigration laws need to be obeyed; any Hispanics who arrive here in America should do so legally. There are steps to the process, but everyone seems to lack patience and cost to make it legal. It's expensive, but from what I understand, when the average citizen of Mexico or Latin America or South America get smuggled into the US, they are sometimes paying very high dollars. These same dollars, if utilized through the legal channels, would work toward making them legal. Maybe then the coyotes would loose enough business to stop exploiting the desperate!

There are positive and negative to every non-American born immigrant that puts roots in the US. And as much as it would seem quick and accurate to lump a peoples into a group and say that overall they are like "such & such"; it would be unfair. For individuals from every immigrant group have worked their own small miracles in making America the best country in the world!

PS - How 'bout dat? I get a negative mark BEFORE I posted my comment - what a hoot!

Hispanics have the most beautiful culture and most Americans love them dearly..the problem lies in the inbred racism they have for white America..its sad. The immigration issue brings it out. We Americans(legal) have to decide were being humane to a poor people is in the best interest when it is decaying this nation...so it is a dilemma..you can't be humane and have a functioning county at the same time. Birth control use would help..and that wasn't a racist comment

America was settled by diverse people bringing in new ideas. Excluding a group only hurts us all. Don't confuse all hispanics with the illegal ones.

As others have said, they do both: help us and hurt us. Really the only downside are the illegal aliens. They need to go back south of the border and come back to the US the correct way....the way every other immigrant legally enters this country.

Other than that, I think it is great.

YES, they hurt the US, they come over and work for a few dollars an hour, and make it impossible for anyone to get a good paying job, the eat up all of the government help for Americans, so American kids and elderly people can do without, i say deport em and let their government take care of them, it is NOT Americas problem. if we would be very cruel, i mean hurt the ones that get caught in the US, and hurt them bad, they would not want to keep coming back, they would get the message, US is for AMERICANS only!

GEEEZE...

How many times do I need to explain this?

Go into any US Supermarket and look at all the
fresh veggies and lettuce. See all that stuff?
Do you like it?

Well, without hispanics in the USA, none of that
stuff would be here on our shelves for you to buy.
It is just that simple. No hispanics, no vegetable
pickers, = no salads. NONE.

i think it is both ways like the other answerer...there are only ''illegals''.....the rest of the Hispanics that are here are citizens by applying or by being born here. so the illegals are here to work..the type of jobs they do here are hard jobs for less pay.i heard it was jobs that no one else wanted to do. the ones that sneak over shouldn't..if you're going to come here ..come legally that's all our government wants,,,do it legal.californiia,,texas,,arizona..nevada,,colorado,,oaklahoma are all Mexican states especially California and Texas....when they sneak over ,,these states are the first ones they go to because these are Mexican states from way back during the cowboys n' Indians era. so if they're coming up..come legally..do it right.

I would have to say a little of both, but that goes with any majority or minority group. There are people who will be honest, hard working individuals who want to help the community. And then there are people who want a free ride and get into trouble.

Like every other legal ethnic groups it not the group it's the person who hurts or helps us but as for the illegal they help big businesses and hurt some of the common people.
