i now skylines are illegal in the states without modifications to the ecu cuz of smog, but if u buy an engine and instal into another car, is it legal?

you will never get away with an engine swap in Cali the exhaust has to be factory.

yeah, you can only swap engines that have been sold in US vehicles in one form or the other. SInce we don't have a turbo charged skyline motor, it won't pass the smog inspection.

That being said.. if it will pass a normal smog check and you don't have to take it to a ref or smog only station, then you might be able to get away with it if you know the right people.

No...you have to have the proper modifications to meat the emission standards and you have to have a reconstructed title for the vehicle as it is not the original engine of that vehicle. California's standards are higher than any other state's when it comes to this so you will be caught out if you try it.
