One area of my gum sometimes bleeds on its own, in the middle of the day. It's not a lot, but its making me worried because gums should not just bleed on their own. No other areas of my gums bleed. The area of my gum that bleeds is near one of my lower molars. I don't floss that area because it's hard to reach. Should I floss that area too from now on? What else can I do? I just had a cleaning three weeks ago and I don't want to go back to the dentist.

What is the best toothpaste I should use? What brand of toothbrush do you recommend?

Have you been eating popcorn or hard chips lately? Sometimes a popcorn husk can get below the gum line and cause irritation. Try rinsing with straight hydrogen peroxide twice a day (buy a new bottle). As for flossing the area, yes you should. There are a lot of flossing aides out there that can help you get into hard to reach places. If it doesn't resolve on it's own, call your dental office, maybe your friendly, neighborhood dental hygienist can irrigate the area for you. Hope everything gets better soon.

Same thing happened to me. My gums would bleed in the middle of the day while talking to someone. I finally went to the dentist and was told that I had gum disease and several teeth that needed dental work.
Deep cleaning of the gums were done "expensive" and other dental work , cost: over $4000 (root canals, crowns, fillings, etc). My teeth and gums look beautiful now. I won't wait so long next time. Check up/every 6 months.

Someone suggested an electric toothbrush that works to get more food particles out of your teeth a manual brush can't reach or get. Use a pre brush rinse like ACT and then brush it should help lessen the bleeding. If you're experiencing bleeding you should call your dentist.

You should see a doctor. Bleeding gums if not caused from gum disease can be a sign of leukemia.
