I was told to rinse my dog with a solution of baking soda after giving him a bath. Was wondering if anyone has tried this and what was the response. Did it alleviate his itching?

I haven't tried Baking Soda.
I changed my dog's food and it's been amazing. Look into California Natural or Innova. Both are fantastic. California Natural Skin and Coat Supplement works wonders. Try it. You get it on the internet or at pet health food stores.
Read "Foods Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin for more gruesome details. It is absolutely shocking what they put in pet food.
Other great foods: Artemis, Wellness, and Canidae.
Good luck.

I bathed my dogs in a flea/tick shampoo that they female had a skin reaction to. My mother (a former beautician) suggested using baking soda to remove residue and cut through the natural oils the dogs fur emits. I dissolved a cup of baking soda in a gallon of warm water and rinsed the dog. I followed that up with a human shampoo for removing styling products build-up. I then used a shower moisturizer that is oatmeal to further soothe her skin. I repeated this after two days, and again one week later. Seemed to do the trick.
