OK, for a start you should have someone who knows what their doing, try to pin point your noise. We can only make a guess working with you here. First off you have an old car with lots of miles. More than likely run somewhat hard. Never changed the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. As the miles roll on the noise keeps getting louder and louder. Now if the above fits your car, the big question is what kind of money do you want to spend and do you want to keep the car. My quess and only a quess, is that the noise is most likely coming from your value train. And that deals with your cams and the discs that the lobes rotate against. The noise means metal has come off these parts. If you want to keep your car, patching is just throwing your money away. It's time to consider an engine overhaul, and while its out, do the trans too. Now I could be wrong and thats why you need to take the car to a good mechanic. I don't believe I'm wrong. All of your answers to date were good. But I have worked on Nissans (Datsuns) for many years until I had to stop. I've worked on Datsums that the Nissan tec never heard of. If you have someone look at the car, age, mileage, the condition of the motors insides, will tell the tale, adding that my guess is only a guess. Or, drive the car until it stops. Good luck, Mark

The oil interior the sump is sucked into the oil pump, the oil pump forces the oil into the engine. the 1st place the oil is going is the main significant bearings of the engine, after the mains the oil then travels around the the remainder of the engine. In different words the main significant bearings produce the oil rigidity interior an identical way that water in a hose pipe could be pressurized once you place your finger excessive of the pipe. From the sound of what you have suggested i think that the main significant bearings on your engine are broken ensuing in the two the noise and the oil rigidity warning easy drawing close. regrettably you will desire the two an entire engine re-build or a re-conditioned alternative engine. Ja.

If it's a 92 SE w/ the dohc engine, you've probably got bad VTC sprockets. Very common problem with this engine. If it's a sohc GXE, then you've got a stuck lifter. Go get help from a knowledgeable mechanic.

Could be a bad valve or a bad lifter...... Take it to a mechanic to be sure. If you blow a head gasket it will cost a mint to fix. If it is a rod it will cost even MORE to fix. Then again a bad valve or lifter won't exactly be cheap!!!
Sorry, hope it isn't anything major!!!!!

Could be a broken valve spring or bent rocker. Cars use hydraulic lifters so there's nothing to adjust.
