I have medium to short hair right now and was concidering getting hair extensions, cause my hair is really thin and when I grow it out it looks scraggly, but I really want long hair. How do I know where to get good ones, and is it going to cost me an arm and a leg?

You can go to a wig shop and buy the hair. Hair prices vary and I've found higher price doesn't mean better hair. Depending on length and style, it can cost $30 and up.

I had mine done at a beauty school and it cost $75. It took hours to sew them in. If you get them glued in they won't last as long and it will pull out your hair somewhat when they are removed.

Having done them both ways, I have found the hair starts to get "nasty" feeling and eventually "nasty" looking. The reason for this is because most of the hair that you buy comes from asians and it is then bleached and colored, etc. which is very damaging to the hair.

I would recommend going to www.greatlengths.com and finding a salon that specializes in their technique. The hair that they use is processed in a different, minimally damaging way and will last for a long time while still retaining the look and feel of healthy hair. This is what I plan on doing next time. Yes it will cost more, but it will last way longer and look way better.

i had 2 rows done (only 1 set though) of bonded real hair, (not synthetic) and it was 400 bucks for a set. after about 2 months they started growing out and got matted, it felt gross but luckily you couldn't see it. oh yea, you couldn't get them wet with out drying them immediately after, they were a big pain in the butt, but if you can afford salon maitence theyre worth it, otherwise try the clip on versions.
