i need to know how long an employer can look back at my driving record.

Depends on your state / province. Ontario, Canada it's 7 years for a search through ministry of transportation... but police have it back indefinately if under criminal law (DUI).

In most states, anything that happened before you were 18, was deleted when you turn 18. In Wisconsin, people can look back at their driving records for as long as they have had a license. My dad got a speeding ticket in 1987. It still shows up on his record. Most states have a site that you can look anyone's public record up on.
