Last night we were in a restuarant and a tiny baby < 8 months old - was plunked into a high chair across from us. My jaw hit the table as the father poked this baby hard in the ribs and said "I don't want any of that bad behavior like last time we were here." The baby picked up a napkin, dropped it on the floor, and the father started to freak. I laughed out loud and smiled when the dad looked at me and the baby literally leaned way out of the high chair and tried to lean on mommy's arm.
Later, the baby scowled at my son. "It's a pretty sad world when even the babies are unfriendly" we thought. But, it was no surprise seeing as this poor baby is stuck with another utterly brain dead parent.
As you note, these people have no respect for anyone, not strangers around them, not even their own children. There's a lot of hostility in america these days...

Not all parents are brain dead but it's people like that that give us a bad name, as soon as any of my 3 dirty their nappies I change them, well, you just do don't you?!
I've never taken mine to a resturant (mainly because they are 2 & twin 9 month olds), I just wouldn't be brave enough!
There has been alot about parents with small children & which resturants they are allowed to eat in which I think is disgusting but maybe sometimes necessary if children are getting out of control. When mine are old enough to eat out I would not stand for bad behaviour as I have respect for other customers & would leave right away if they played up, some parents don't though!
Sorry, got sidetracked there didn't I? Dirty nappies whilst eating your lovely meal? Yes that's not at all nice, I bet if the father had poo in his pants he wouldn't be happy about sitting in it!!!

Some people just don't think and are pretty inconsiderate - I walked passed a burger king restaurant and through the glass windows I could see a woman changing her small child along the window ledge - there are mother and baby changing areas in there and I just thought it was pretty lazy of her - same as the people eating near you - am sure there was a place they could have gone to they just didn't want to move - and if the restaurant didn't have a place then most nice ones would offer you a small area away from the public to change your child in.

I can't say that I have done that, but being a parent twice, I do understand the brain-deadness. If you do not have kids, most of the time they take every bit of energy from you. So , please don't judge until you have children. I do also understand how it is to have a meal ruined by inconsiderate parents. At least the restaurant compensated you for something that really wasn't their fault.

Sorry you had to have your night ruined. I agree that someone should have taken the baby to the bathroom and changed it. That is disgusting to smell poop while your trying to enjoy a meal.

To be completely honest, I'm shocked at how the manager took action. I'm surprised he didn't say that he couldn't do anything about it. And obviously those parents have no consideration for other people. I would've said something to them, and if they had a problem with what I said then they should've gotten a baby-sitter.

I am sseing two ways on this. If the baby had poop then he should have been changed, but it could have been gas. Also, a babies poop doesn't smell that bad (it's just formula or breast milk). Instead of storming out of the place, you could have asked for another table.
