Inform them of the mental illnesses (there are several) that can lead to suicide. Discuss the symptoms of the illnesses in terms they will understand, ask if they've ever had a really bad day & to elaborate on how this felt for them, & whatever you do....
DON'T INVOLVE RELIGION IN ANY WAY....you'll be adding more guilt to someone who may already be dealing with thoughts of guilt, anger, fear, & self-hatred.
Tread lightly & KNOW your subject very well before attempting to discuss it.
I hope this helps...Good Luck.

Read your question! Are you nuts? Telling high school students that suicide is ok? Presenting it in a positive way? You better tellit straight. Or don't you even know what you're talking about?

The bible says that: Those that love death HATE GOD.
SO......The question at hand is very serious.
A question you must ask yourself first is this.
Do you think that someone God declares "to be against", he will then allow into heaven, and not go to hell?
seriously though. The answer would be no, "if" the person does not even repent at all for their wrong doing.
You see- For ANYONE that teaches ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED, OR ETERNAL SECURITY, they are infact condoning suicide. God says that they will not enter heaven.
*since a person needs to ask for 4giveness for their sins, HOW CAN YOU ASK 4 IT, IF YOU KILL YOURSELF IN THE PRCESS?
make since?
This is why it is soooooooo bad.
Daily sins though horrible, can still in most cases not take your life, thus giving you an opportunity (before you die) to ask for 4giveness of sin to the only mediator Jesus, to God and through the Holy Spirit inside a believer.
***key note here. If you and the kids DO NOT believe in ETERNAL SECURITY you may be able to get through to them.
otherwise...I myself have even heard false teaching behind the pulpit that such an act is permissible with God, but that "He just wont like it!" ok, thats wrong.
I hope this helps a little bit. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom/knowledge. Godbless-LIVE4TRUTH =]
P.S. revelation 21:8 says who will forfeit heaven.

There is no positive way to portray suicide. Why would you want to. To paint suicide in a positive light is ultimately deceptive, immoral and irresponsible. Encourage people to press on with life, no matter how cumbersome it maybe. Ultimately, what looks bleak today will give way to a positive future. Explain that every setback and every woe, is merely a precursor to something good and desirable. Engender life, don't promote death.

Talk about how feelings are temporary, and how the true desire of suicidal people isn't to die, but for the pain to end. Talk about how suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems, and how it creates problems for the people left behind. Give numbers to local hotlines and URLs for webpages and forums.

i am not sure i understand your question
how can it be put possitivly at all ?
even as someone who believes that our lives are in our own hands ... i cant see any good that would come from this except instant relief .. but then that is promoting suicide which should not be the answer
please elaborate ?
added note
if you wish to put possitive light on a delicate subject...
what about discussing people who have tried and not succeeded only to find that life isnt as bad as they thought ... and have found a goal in life ?

suicide hurts the ones left behind. and the one that committed suicide probably missed out on some really great happenings in their life as well as more sorrows. but everone has to take the good and the bad. if they bail on the bad then they miss the good.

There is a book called He Choose You. by Max Lucado. He has written it to teens. Go to the Bible bookstore, and ask if they have any books that can help you with the subject. Pray, and ask God for help also. He can give you the answers you are looking for.

People who kill themselves free up that much more air and food for the rest of us! :D
Quite honestly, though, I don't see why you'd want to present suicide in a positive light. The fact is, it's just bad and illogical (except for certain people, but they aren't the ones who do it).
