Television is little more than a tool for advertising companies to tell you what you should be buying and then offering you the goods they tell you that you need. It's an easy way to brainwash the masses. I try not to turn it on very often. It is usually only on for the bike racing.

I'm afraid television is primarily an advertising vehicle, and little else. Television influences my life hardly at all (thirty minutes some evenings just to see the news) since I discovered the Internet. I began all this Internet stuff back in February of this year, with zero prior knowledge of the thing. Can you imagine what a Magical Mystery Tour this has turned out to be!! Sent to you with positive energies from Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am 63 years old.)

I hardly watch it. Most programes are crap. Very rarley something like 'Life on mars' comes along that makes it worth having.
Also it good for the news. Plus I need one to watch DVDs.
What pisses me off is I have to pay the same licence fee as some gimp who sits in front of it 24/7

The television brings the Hell of the World into a little box so that we can live vicariously.
Read this poem somewhere who wrote it who knows:-
Eye on the the TV
'Cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavor it happens to be, like...
"Killed by the husband"
"DROWNED by the ocean"
"Shot by his own son"
"SHe used a poison
in his tea...kissed him goodbye"
It's my kind of story
It's no fun 'til someone dies

Don't look at me like
I am a monster
Frown out your one face
But with the other
Stare like a junkie
Into the TV
Stare like a zombie

While the mother holds her child
Watches him die
Hands to the sky crying,
"Why, oh why?"

Cause I need to watch things die... from a distance
Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie

Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing
Neither the brave nor bold
write as the story's told
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing

I need to watch things die... from a good safe distance
Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same, so...

Why can't we just admit it?

Blood like rain falling down
Drawn by the brave and proud

Part vampire
Part warrior
Carnivorous Voyuer
Stare at the transmitter
Sing to the death rattle

La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie
La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie
La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie
La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie

Credulous at best
Your desire to believe in
Angels in the hearts of men
But pull your head on out
you hippies and give a listen
Shouldn't have to say it all again

The universe is hostile, so impersonal
Devour to survive... so it is, so it's always been

We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire

Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I

It steals time when I should be doing something more productive. But there are some wonderful TV shows which have production values, acting and script better than most movie blockbusters.
