How reliable is their information? I’m looking at buying a used Porsche in Miami or Phoenix.

It's a great service, and gives you detailed information about the entire history of the car, including past owners, any accident reports, and any shop repairs. Once you use the service for the first time, additional times are cheaper if you use a special discount code available through car dealerships. Dealerships won't pay for your initial inquiry with Carfax, but if you follow through with purchasing the car, the dealer should be able to knock that Carfax cost off the purchase price of the car (they did it for my jeep!). Definitely a great service. And you can't lose: if you end up buying the car, the dealership refunds you your Carfax fee. If you DON'T buy the car, that few bucks to Carfax seems like nothing compared to the money you would have wasted on a bad car!

I used to work for a Mercedes dealership and they used CARFAX to check on the history of trade-ins. If the used it then I would think they do a pretty good job.

I used it for my last 2 car purchases. It is good. If you are buying a sweet car like you are describing, make the dealer eat the cost!

Yes, I have several times. I used it when I bought my M3 in Texas off the internet when I lived in California. It works as advertised.
