The US could not ask for and have a better neighbor than Canada. I feel very fortunate to have such great neighbors to the North.

if you're basing your observations in elementary words on the questions and solutions printed in the Yahoo! solutions - vacation/Canada section, you're operating with an exceedingly undesirable representation of both Canadian and US society. First, evaluate the way that questions that are being posed. such issues as "Do you compromise that united states is the perfect?" or "Why do Canadians hate united states a lot?". I said one individual submit (in the question description) lately, "No offense yet all of us understand united states is the perfect, and call me some thing that Canada has EVER performed for the international?" once you come back upon that type of question, it isn't a wonder that you receives heated replies and nasty comments. 2d, how did you understand what united states the guy is from in the journey that they don't state it in the question or the answer? even with in the journey that they say the position they're from, who says they don't seem mendacity? If i look at your question, you do not say what united states you're from. yet lots of those who examine this may anticipate you're from between both international locations suggested and base their solutions on how they examine your question. it quite is why I do see solutions like "familiar American options-set" or "insecure Canadian" and such. As i have reported in some previous solutions i have given, i truly dislike the question of which united states is extra perfect between united states and Canada, because each and every individuals have our flaws and issues our united states might want to do extra perfect. I in elementary words answer a number of them specially even as someone is deliberately putting out incorrect information or saying issues that are for sure unfaithful. style of attempting to set the list immediately. and that i'd do this no matter if it develop right into a Canadian dissing u.s., or an American dissing Canada. united states and Canada are pleasant neighbours. I keep in mind we were good friends even as Carter, Reagan, Clinton, and Bush Sr. were on the helm. Our relationship suffered somewhat throughout Bush Jr. years. And we seem getting friendlier again now that Obama is operating the teach. i wish that trend keeps, via the indisputable fact that's a heck of a lot extra relaxing residing on your neighbourhood once you do not imagine your neighbour is someone you want to maintain away from!

I think the relationship is quite normal.
Of course no Canadian speaks for all Canadians
The US are our next door neighbours, closest allies, best friends ---best trading partner --- So it is normal that we are extremely interested in what is going on with you folk, what your are thinking about, etc.
Also, we will be the most virulent when you do something we strongly disapprove of (or that frankly disgusts us). If Russia does something we feel is wrong we will just say so. But if our best friends do it, we will yell about it. Isn't that normal?
I really don't think we want to be a part of the US. While we appreciate you, we do have our own way of doing things, and of thinking - so we would prefer to just stay friends, thank you.
Of course you will find some Canadians that like to be violently anti-USA, just as you find some Americans that are very much anti-Canadian. But I don't think these represent an important proportion of the population in any case.
Of course, our next door neighbour being in the news so much, for controversial reasons, some weak minded individuals think it is smart to burn flags, and curse Americans, etc. But you find that kind of people anywhere, eh?
When the crunch comes, like 9/11, for instance, you will find a great deal of warm affection in Canada for our southern neighbours.

It was my impression that probably a majority of negative opinions of US expressed in questions were from Americans? Most of them expressing political bias against the US president.
Most Canadians are not against the US, though there are a number who are. In time of an unpopular war certain politicians play to this segment in public speaches..
To put this in perspective , a great many Canadians see their identity as "not being US" .
Canada is a small economy and population relative to the US, and is bombarded by American mass media and entertainment. Canadians hold most of the same basic beliefs as Americans on democracy, freedom, free markets, free enterprise. They speak the same language [in English Canada]. It is difficult for a Canadian to shake off the American influence on their culture, business, lives.
To have a distinct identity under these circumstances requires constant reminders that Canadians are not in fact Americans. If you ae going to distinguish yourself from another people you are certainly not going to chose those areas where you are inferior so you highlight the other fellows faults.
Obsessed? well it is inevitable that Canadians are more interested in what happens in the US. than vice versa. After all 80% of Canadian exports go to the US. The Us is a super power, lives next door influences everything that happens in Canada from culture to military. Canadians travel frequently to the US and have cross border business and family ties. How could they not be interested in the US?
Canada and US are long time allies with joint defense of the continent. This alliance poses problems for Canadians when , as in Iraq, the Us goes to war and Canada does not feel they should.
It is intimes of unpopular wars, Vietnam and Iraq that Canadians exhibit anti american feelings.
So Canada, for excellent reasons, is keenly interested in everything Amercian. Like everyone else in the world Canadians are conscious of the enormous economic and military power of the US neighbour.. In astruggle to identify themsleves as Non americans they overdo criticism at times.
Under it all, Canadians are more closely related to America and Americans than any other people in the world.Canadians may carp and criticize but they realize their enormous good fortune to be geographically and culturally linked to the US.

Most of us not obsessed about the US but we like to keep our own identity and way of life which is similar but not the same.
We love our social safety net and health care as well as University fees which are still in the reach of many people even though they are going up every year.
We are also known as a peace-keeping nation and many of are opposed to certain American actions such as the Iraq war.
Recently also Canadians get killed on a regular basis in Afghanistan which saddens and horrifies us. Many of us are asking what are we doing there?

The UK and Australia are not as close to US as Canada. We are geographically challenged. It's like having to share a bathroom with somebody. They may be your friend, but you don't always like what they do and when people come to see your place your always susceptible to being judged by the mess that they make and leave behind. A past PM (Trudeau) said it was like sharing a bed with an elephant.

It is not odd that many other countries hate our guts and try to pretend to be our allies,in this day and age we as Americans really have the most envied, despised and jealous about here where we live,I can only thank the founding fathers for what they have started, eat your hearts out.

I wouldn't say the Canadian foreign minister is against the US. Last I heard he was dating Condoleezza Rice.
"It's been reported that Condoleezza Rice is dating a high level Canadian diplomat. Sources say you can tell because Rice has an extra bounce in her step and is giggling a lot as she prepares for the invasion of Iran." --Conan O'Brien

Most Canadians don't have nothing against the American Citizens but do not support some of the US government's ideas.
We do not like to feel pressured into anything.

Why don't you ask the BBC and CNN of how they report their news stories? They make us look like the villains and the bigots of the world, instead of a country who fought and died for them to preserve their democracies.
It is also because of resentment of our democracy's uniqueness and economic prosperity.
They still want us to be their colony and obey their policies. It's like they want us to be a good kid, and do as you are told.
