I'm trying to get my dog to balance a treat on his nose, then flip it in the air to catch it. He will balance the treat, but then tilts his head down so it falls off. How do I get him to flip his head back so the treat goes in the air for him to catch??
Thanks.

First, try lifting his head up quickly so the treat flies into the air (do it for him). Make sure you have a commandfor it so he knows what to do and when to do it. Keep doing this and soon enough when you say the command, he'll do it on his own! :)

Time and patience. Withhold the treat till he does the trick right. Or give him an extra treat if he does it right.
You will have to litterally show him the first few times. That's how they train horses. Until they catch on.
Try putting another treat in back of his head so he will bend his head back. Then when he does it right, give him the treat. It will take a while but he will catch on.

Maybe you could tie a string to the treat, and when you give the command for him to eat it, jerk the treat straight up into the air. He'll have to flip his head up to reach for it. After a while he'll get used to doing it that way, and he'll do it without the string.
