I can't believe answers which simply aren't informed but are tossed out anyways are done to help the Questioner in mind. Y'all must be starved for these idiotic points awarded per answer here.

For an E-1 (Enlisted Pay Grade 1, the lowest) with less than 2 years in service (the minimum) who is single and has no dependents, he earns a base salary of $1235.17. He collects BAS (Basic Allowance for Subsistence) of $272.26, BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) of $8.10, HFP/IDP (Hostile Fire Pay, Imminent Danger Pay) of $225.00, Hardship Pay of $56.67 ... all told $1797.00, or close to $1800 per month.

Mind you, I just dug up my LES (Leave and Earnings Statement) and got every figure except the base salary (which is not mine) for time spent in Iraq. Married Soldiers get Family Separation Allowance and a bigger BAH, which translates into more money, regardless of rank.

And why did you suddenly decide to become curious about something like this anyways?

when i was in as an e-1, i asked the same question to one of my superior's. he told me ( a SSG. of 20 years ) that if i went overseas i would recieve hazard pay and combat pay on top of my basic pay already recieved. so you would be looking at around $2,500-$3,000/ month. and that is with the Army and Army National Guard soldiers, not any other branch. The pay is enough and better than what you would make at wendy's or walmart, and the benefits are very good. so join and find out but otherwise this message will self destruct in t minus 2 mins.
