Anything that segregates a community is unfair. Whatever Pom meant in the past it now has a different and deprecatory interpretation.

I live in Gibraltar and the local population call English people "giri" and its supposedly harmless. It means all the English/British people were labelled and made integration very hard, as such the Brits stuck to themselves at school and, being British, beat the hell out of anybody that used the term. Maybe Pom seems harmless because you all live in a vastly English environment but you go live in Oz and you may find it different.

Hey Yobble or Wowser what ever you may be. It is just Strine. A Ratbag. Prom just means Pom, pommy : an Englishman . I have heard more added to that-that makes it more insulting. Same with Barmen.
Will Yabber later, Corker of a post.
What is your point? Is it OK-you decided. I wouldn't.
See ya Mate.

Not quite sure, but I've never really wondered why they get slagged off for it. They're generally the best bar-people you come accriss in London. The english ones (like me... I know I've done it) are generally a lot more grumpy and unhelpful (generalisation I know).
