Grades dropped back, yet nonetheless surpassed my instructions. Oh nicely. I graduated merely tremendous. no man or woman ever requested for my GPA :) i'm no longer affirming you should do the bare minimum like I did, yet a C is passing. confident, your mom would no longer be so proud. yet enable's settle for it, college is more beneficial sturdy than intense college and issues would nicely be a lot, a lot worse. you're a freshman in college, once you're going to goof up on your grades, your freshman year is the time to do it. maximum novices do no longer make it previous the first semester. you may have a three.0-3.5 GPA. "The mental kids" are wonderful individuals, and this can give you the opportunity to expand your mind, and teach you how to not be prejudice against different types of people. YOu know "the mental kids' use their hearts, so much more and are intuned to their creative sides as well. If you were wise, you would tap into that experience for what it is....it can give you an invaluable experience later on in life, and change you in ways; you won't know right away, but definitely for the better. You might want to thank you teacher, instead of being upset about this.

I work with preschoolers with disabilities, and if there is one thing I know, it is that there are people who are meant to work with these children and those who are not. If you are not at all comfortable working with these children, talk to your teacher. There is no point in you being uncomfortable and not getting anything out of the experience of working with these children. If, however, you feel you are up to the challenge, do some research. Find out about some of the syndromes and mental disorders that are out there- specifically ones that the children in the class have. It may give you a better perspective on the lives and issues that these children are dealing with, as well as give you some ideas on working with them.

I would talk to your teacher, but she may make you stick it out! They can be a great group of kids if you give it a shot! I used to feel the same way as you, until I got to college. I sat in a class with my aunt who is a teacher of kids with disabilities, and also i learned a lot in a Developmental Disabilities class that I took as a requirement last semester. Open up your mind, and give it a shot! You may be surprised!

You need to be a better example first of all. Second, you need to explore different ways of communicating with the children than speech. You need to figure out how to communicate with them. Thirdly, you better get used to it if you are going into teaching. With inclusion, many of these kids are not separated from the mainstream children and, sadly, in public schools, they may not receive the services that they are entitled to. This is "real life" not college. Perhaps, if you are unable to deal with it--after you have given yourself time to adjust--you may realize that teaching isn't for you. That is a gift.
