I have an 18 month old silver black tabby called Charly who doesn't like it but Frodo the 10 week old little short haired black and white loves the stuff - he bounces off the walls (literally) because he runs around like he has a banshee up his bum and runs into things... (doesnt hurt himself)

His eyes go really wide and you can see it build up inside him like winding up a toy then BOING like someone flicked a switch he's off on one darting around everywhere.

you understand i have heard that catnip is undesirable for cats also, yet no longer that its a drug. it might want to have a drug-like influence. even with the actuality that i doubt that. i do not bypass over catnip, toys and so on. yet everyonce and awhile i visit enable them play with a toy with catnip as a manage, and they prefer it, and through no skill do they act intense, or any diverse. They promote catnip almost everywhere, so I doubt its that undesirable, or they wouldnt promote it, expecially at educated puppy shops. in addition they use catnip to coach cats to apply the litterbox, or use the scratch pad, even with the actuality that I wouldnt propose they ingest it. wish this helps :)

Yes, my cats vary in their reaction to catnip. Lucy goes a bit lovey and tries to grab the bowl it's in. Tory stares off into space or at the wall while Mary just rolls around on the floor whereever it's fallen. None go really spastic, though.

I have tried (still unsuccessfully) to break my gentle cat from clawing the furniture. The scratching tray I bought for her was mildly laced with catnip and at first she used it - sometimes - and then she abandoned it altogether.

So, I bought some catnip and sprinkled it rather liberally on the scratching tray and she immediately fell in love with it, rolling around on it over and over. Of course, she wouldn't think of SCRATCHING her beloved tray!

That night she curled up in bed with me as usual and we both went to sleep. Around 2 I woke out of a sound sleep screaming because something had really hurt my arm. Whether frightened by her catnip-induced nightmare or my scream I do not know, but the cat leaped several inches high in the air and was no more to be seen. I had blood flowing from scratches as much as six inches long.

After bandaging myself and even before going back to bed, I threw out the scratching tray and the catnip!

But I kept the cat

Our 4 female kitties love it, they have tons of catnip toys and they love to roll on top of the toys and bat them around, or just drool on them sometimes.......its funny! You can also "marinate" non-catnip toys in it by putting the toys in a ziplock bag with a few handfulls of catnip, shut the bag, shake it around.....let it sit for a few days, then when u pull out the toys, they smell of the catnip. Keep the bag with the catnip in it and use it again. They will love it!

Not all cats like catnip, but for the ones that do - they love it. All of my cats love catnip, so yes I give it to them, just not too often, but my one cat does run back and forth, jumping up and down on things. It is funny to see her. The other ones just roll in it and look at me like they are saying thank you.

Yes. I bought a catnip plant for Tika, I break off a stem with a few leaves on it and roll it in my hands to release the scent...and Tika licks it off my hands.

Catnip is good for cats because it helps them pass hairballs and it's also good for their urinary tract..

To the person who says to smoke it...Catnip does NOT have THC (the chemical in marijuana that produces the 'high')in it, it has nepetalactone, which has no effect on humans..only cats!

I used to grow some in the garden and my cat loved it! When I give him the dried stuff he starts drooling and acting all goofy. I had to start limiting how much he was having as I was worried about him doing damage to his brain!!

I've weaned him off it now and only has a bit occassionally!!

Catnip for cats is the equivalent of LSD for people.
My cats won't touch it. I have 2. I grew up with cats and these are the only 2 I have ever had that didn't like it.
