Because they are ignorant. People do not have a chance when it comes to trains. Also, it is against the law to drive around railroad crossings.

Because they have a death wish duh. And them and their lives are so important that the world revolves around them. So in their mind the train will stop for them and just maybe honk. Like all the idiots that run redlights. Well thats what they think until they get hit by 900,000 tons of steel and freight. And their lives are so important and they have so much to do that they would rather chance death than to waste a few minutes waiting for a train. Because Time equals money and money equals the root of all evil, GREED. Well good luck. I hope this helps. Maybe you will even agree with it.

Because everyone is in such a big hurry. If they don't see or hear a train coming , they think they can beat it, unfortunately many have not.
