No, he didn't hit his wife. I believe these are just rumors that are spread by people who are jealous of his success.

I take it this is a famous guy.
Not all men hit their wives, but by the time it becomes public that a man is hitting his wife, you can guarantee that some bad crap has been going down or it wouldn't be public.
If you are accusing her of lying about it consider this: If this is a famous guy then she is as invested in his career as he is and her coming forward to expose him would undermine her too - there is nothing for her here except to make him stop and promoting her own safety.
And if the cops are involved, trust me, no matter what their propaganda is, they do not believe women in 'domestics' - so if they are involved, and they are charging him with a criminal offence there is like a 110% chance he did something to her that is ten times worse than they are charging him with.
