(6 Questions...here goes)
1. Why do Mormons use the Book of Mormon?
It is another witness of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 18: 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Also it has a special promise associated with it from God. That whosoever will read it with a sincere heart and ask God in the name of Jesus Christ if it is true...the promise is that it will be shown unto them that it is true by God's power. (Moroni 10:3-5)
2. Do they read the Bible?
Yes
Articles of Faith # 8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
3. Why do they have the Book of Mormon?
(from title page)
It is to show unto the remnant of the House of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; and that they may know the covenants of the Lord, that they are not cast off forever—And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL God, manifesting himself unto all nations...
4. Where did it come from?
(from Book of Mormon introduction)
The book was written by many ancient prophets by the spirit of prophecy and revelation. Their words, written on gold plates, were quoted and abridged by a prophet-historian named Mormon. The record gives an account of two great civilizations. One came from Jerusalem in 600 B.C., and afterward separated into two nations, known as the Nephites and the Lamanites. The other came much earlier when the Lord confounded the tongues at the Tower of Babel. This group is known as the Jaredites. After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are the principal ancestors of the American Indians.
In due course the plates were delivered to Joseph Smith, who translated them by the gift and power of God. The record is now published in many languages as a new and additional witness that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and that all who will come unto him and obey the laws and ordinances of his gospel may be saved.
5. Where did the name Mormon come from?
Mormon is the prophet who gathered all the plates and abridged them. (His name comes from the Hebrew...mor = more + mon= good)
6. Why would he write another Bible if there is already a Bible?
2 Nephi 29:6 Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?
7 Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?
8 Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also.
9 And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure. And because that I have spoken one word ye need not suppose that I cannot speak another; for my work is not yet finished; neither shall it be until the end of man, neither from that time henceforth and forever.
10 Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written.
11 For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written.

Mk. So it sounds like you're getting a lot of bizarre answers, hopefully I can clear them up for you.
1) yes Mormons (or Ladder-Day Saints) do read the bible, they study both the old and new testaments.
2) The Book of Mormon is supplemental to the Bible (like the new testament to the old testament) because after so much time of translating and retranslating the bible the belief is held that many parts were translated incorrectly, which is why is contradicts itself at times. The BOM is there to clear up any extra questions.
3) The BOM was found on the Hill Cumorah by Joseph Smith, it was hidden there by a man by the name of Mormon, who abridged what were basically journals of the people who lived in America long before it was "America". Theres a whole story about this, but to keep things short, with a whole lot of help from God, he translated these plates of journal that he found into english, and whoala, the Book of Mormon.
For more info visit www.lds.com or even try wikipedia. The best information you can find though is in the Doctrine and Covenants, which pdrfer mentioned earlier

Mormons read the Book of Mormon, because they believe that it is another testament of Jesus Christ. It's not really another bible, it's more like a companion to the bible. Yes Mormons also read and use the bible in there teachings. The Book of Mormon comes from Gold plates the Joseph Smith found and translated it into English. The name Mormon comes from one of the prophets in the Book of Mormon, names Mormon. He was the one that abridged the Book of Mormon, so that's why it is named after him!

There are some great answers on here. Here's mine.
1. We believe in using all of God's words. The Book of Mormon is a collection of various prophets' teachings on the American continent, like the Bible is of prophets in the Middle East. It truly is another testament of Jesus Christ.
2. We do read the Bible and follow it's teachings. We believe that it contains the fulness of the gospel.
3. Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. The Book of Mormon is a companion to the Bible. It shows that the same religion was found in the Old World and the New World.
4&5. Mormon was a prophet in the Book of Mormon. The book contains a history that spans over 1,000 years. Mormon gathered and compiled teachings of different prophets through that time into one record, which is now the Book of Mormon named after him. He gave it to his son, Moroni, who added a few words of his own, and then he buried them. In the 1820's, Moroni returned as an angel to Joseph Smith and showed him where the record was buried. Joseph found the plates and translated them through revelation from God.

Some of the people that answered before this are right on. but others are trying to explain what they don't understand. Please note the people that correctly describing everything that we do-read the bible and the Book of Mormon is another testament in conjunction with the bible- are consistent with each other. The other's have different, inaccurate, conflicting views. I would like to throw a couple more things in with those that have describe things well.
Some of the people say the Book of Mormon is false and a work of fiction, written by Joseph Smith. OK, they are entitled to their opinion, then they are welcome to recreate there own scripture to prove such a work can be created. the site below states all the requirements in order to produce a document similar to the Book of Mormon. There are 33 requirements; most will not get past the first two.
Next: a "Cult" defined at Dictionary.com:
1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology. a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
6. a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
7. the members of such a religion or sect.
8. any system for treating human sickness that originated by a person usually claiming to have sole insight into the nature of disease, and that employs methods regarded as unorthodox or unscientific.
If Mormonism (LDS) is a Cult due to the first 5 meanings then every religion is a cult of believers. "Unorthodox, or extremist", granted some of our views are unpopular, but every religion has ideas the other religions think absurd. In addition, if we are considered extremists, then some of those evangelical churches are beyond extreme. (You could fall asleep at most LDS services, seriously). Next granted a lot (not most, I don’t) live in Utah, but we are very integrated, not segregated outside of normal living. Lastly, a charismatic leader? Wow, show me a Charismatic 90+ year old and I'll show you a pig with wings.
7-We are not a sect, we did not "break away" from another religion.
8-We have some of the best conventional doctors in the world, if they "practiced" weird things cult things, they wouldn't be doctors.
Any further questions children?
(sorry this is long)

Of course we read the Bible, along with the book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine and Covenants, these are the standard scriptures we use.
The book of Mormon is not another Bible as most falsely imply.
it is another scriptural witness of Jesus Christ.
Mormon is a Prophet in the Book of Mormon who compiled the ancient records of the American continant into what we now known as the book of Mormon.

Yes Mormons read the bible. The bible is very important. The book of Mormon is a book written by prophets in the Americas on brass plates. The story goes that angel Moroni came to Joseph Smith and told him where to find them. Hence the name Mormon.

They do read the bible, they just believe that the book of Mormon is an extension of the bible. They say the bible was written for people in earlier centuries and the book of Mormon was written for later generations.

It's not another Bible, but it is another testament of Jesus Christ.
Yes, we read the bible, we are studying it this year in Sunday School at church...we rotate every year between the OT, NT, Book of Mormon, D&C...and so on.
It is basically an ancient record of people who first traveled from the east and came to the American continent before Christ was on the earth. It is their history. Its just like the bible, as far as an account of people's righteousness and wickedness.
The tablets (which the history was written on) were hidden, as commanded by the Lord, by Moroni, a righteous man living hundreds of years ago. He came to Joseph Smith after Joseph had inquired of the Lord as to which church to join and the Lord and Heavenly Father instructed Joseph that the correct gospel was not on the earth at that time and that he would be the one who would restore it to the earth. Joseph translated the ancient tablets, after receiving them from Moroni and that is what the Book of Mormon is.
Mormon also lived back then and was the one who abridged the tablets, therefore it was named after him. I believe he was Moroni's father...
Please do not believe the false information about us...you can choose to or not believe the doctrine, but please at least take the information directly from the source and not the people trying to destroy it.
Contact me or the missionaries if you would like more info...
