you're not the only naive American - Chicago is further north than Toronto. Friends of mine who are truck drivers have seen Americans in Detroit stop to put on winter coats before they cross the border into Canada - IN THE SUMMER! when the temperatures are in the 90s. They're thinking there is a whole different weather pattern when they cross the border. Another good website is www.weather.ca but keep in mind the temps are in celcius not faranhite (sp)

I leave in Canada right now and I can tell you that it's really really cold! In winter, the temperature goes down at something like -50 degrees Celcius! It's more than cold! Beside, summers are pretty hot, with 45 degrees Celcius some days!

Americans can be so naive..

I've drove 2 hours across the american border and had everyone believing I lived in an igloo.

Some northern parts of Canada are very cold however I've seen summers get to 105 here. Check out the link below.

Don't forget we measure how cold it is in Celcius so here is a converter for you:

It depends on where you are and the time of year! I, personally, don't find it that cold! Sometimes we can get extreme weather, but it usually doesn't last for long. You just have to dress appropriately!

Canada is pretty big. It can have a wide variety of weather. Toronto is farther south than Detroit.

I put links to Toronto and Vancouver.
