You must realise now there is no such thing as a house cat, they are all acting on their instincts of thousands of years. Cats as you might be aware are predominately nocturnal, mainly because their natural prey is as well, small rodents etc. during nesting season early morning for the fledglings I'm sorry to say, it's natural for a cat. Once they feed they generally sleep, perhaps with a quick visit to their toilet in between. In fact cats sleep most of the day, because they do. What's more is that they have a territory to patrol and ensure all is well within that area, is it too busy an area for a cat flap? Mine like to go out about 2 to 3 in the morning and back by 6 or 7 depending on the daylight available, it suits quite well as it tends to be quieter at that time and there is less traffic around, and humans for that matter.

No cat is a house cat really. You have made your cat want to come in on a day or night but they also want to know whats going on out there. The minute you shut the door they want in and then they sit and cry. Cats prefer a door that they can go in and out of at their leisure. You don't own the cat. The cat owns you.

My cat use to do the same thing. Its not that it wants to go outside. But it knows something is out there. I had glass doors so my cat could look outside, but it would still cry when it seen another animal. I think it is just a territorial thing. It wants out to preserve its space.

He's obviously decided he's not a house cat and is objecting in the only way he/she knows how. If it's a he you'll have to get the operation sorted soon, coz he'll have worked out that the crying hasn't worked and will resort to other methods of showing his displeasure with the situation

He's not been neutered has he? He wants to go out and reproduce.
He needs to be neutered if you want him to remain a house cat. Until you neuter him he is not a house cat, he is a tom cat.
Also, unneutered male cats will start "spraying" your home to mark territory. That really smells bad and is impossible to get out.

he wants to go outside to explore, to meet other cat, and to feel like a wild cat. all cats have a wild side and you should let him out because... well he might stop crying but keep an eye on him my cat kept climbing the fence to get out and she got hurt real bad

Has he always done that? My cat started acting weird like that...as well as peeing all over the place...because he had a urinary tract infection. After the infection was cleared up, he was fine.
Otherwise, may he just be hungry or wanting some attention?

He wants to go out. He wants to experience what is 'out there' He may also smell another cat around. Cats have an incredible sense of smell.
