Candied Apples Recipe

It's easy to make your own candied apples at home. As with most hard candy recipes, a candy thermometer is essential. Omit the nuts, and they are fat-free. Great for bake sales or fund-raisers.
INGREDIENTS:
12 red delicious apples
12 wooden ice-cream sticks
4-1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon red food coloring
1-1/2 cups water
1 cup chopped peanuts
PREPARATION:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or Silpats. Set aside. Wash and dry the apples. Insert a stick through the stem of each, leaving about 2 inches of the stick for gripping.

Place the chopped peanuts in a deep bowl large enough to roll apples in.

Place the sugar, corn syrup, food coloring, and water in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Bring slowly to a boil while stirring constantly and cook until the ingredients are dissolved.

Insert a candy thermometer into the liquid and continuing cooking, without stirring, until the temperature reaches 290 degrees F. This should take about 20 minutes.

Remove the syrup from the heat and dip the apples, one by one, coating each evenly. Work quickly so the sauce doesn't harden. As you finish dipping an apple, roll it in the peanuts to coat evenly. Place each apple standing on the prepared cookie sheet. Let the apples cool for at least 1 hour before servinig.

Eating apples aren't really the best for making desserts, but here's two suggestions:

Baked Apples

Core the apple and place on a baking sheet, mix some raisins and brown sugar and stuff the core of the apple with it. Bake until apple is soft.

Queen of Puddings

Peel chop and stew the apples.
Make up a basic sponge cake mix.
Spread the stewed apples in the bottom of an oven proof dish.
Spread the sponge mix on top of the apple.
Bake in the oven until the sponge is cooked.
Serve with cream or ice cream.

How about Apple Cobbler....
preheat your oven to 350 deg. at the same time take a stick put it into a 9 1/2 x 11 glass or tin pan (glass is better) as the oven is preheating the butter is melting, while that is going on mix 1 cup of flour with 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 cup of milk. When the mixture is ready and the butter is melted, remove the pan from the oven, and put your mixture in the pan. (let the butter come over the mixture it is suppose to do that) then take about 1-2 cups of peeled apple and place them over the mixture, put it back in the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until the top is golden brown. (note you don't only have to use apple you can use any type of fruit). (You could also make Carmel apple) or Carmel apple slices, just melt your Carmel put it over sliced apple cool it and eat it!!!!
