Absolutely! and i applaud you for coming out and speaking your mind as well. This country is infested with bone idle slobs who have never worked and never will because they get their backside wiped for them by the state. I know of a guy with 5 kids who has used every excuse in the book not to work, they even refer to the day when their benefits arrive as 'pay day' the make me want to vomit, i'd like to screw their house doors tight and flood their house with petrol and burn them. They are, always have been and always will be lazy sponging scum, and what really annoys me is that decent hard working people pay tax through the nose to fund scum like that. Thery're lower than pondscum.

To be honest I don't think anyone would smirk living on 57 quid a week (less if you are under 25)... it's nothing really. I work in a job centre and I really don't see smirking or smug people. I see depressed people and people with numerous barriers to work who are desperate to get out of the rut they are in. They may try to put a brave face on it but it really is no life.

There are numerous very valid reasons for people to be unemployed. Older people who are made redundant and can't find a new job. People who have left home at a young age because of the environment they were living in. I was unemployed for a year... I couldn't face the world after my family died. I never smirked once. Trust me. Again it really isn't a life.

There are also different types of benefits and people who cant work due to a physical or mental condition or because they are full time carers (either of children, a parent or a partner)... I really don't mind my tax going to them because I would rather that than be in their shoes. The main benefit people are talking about when they make this kind of statement is Job Seekers Allowance. The vast majority of people on this benefit are just between jobs and have paid taxes for years until they find themselves in this situation. They HAVE paid into society and now are just getting back a small amount of what they paid in.

It's not that easy to claim JSA and if people aren't looking for work they will get sanctioned.

I hope you all never find yourself in this situation.

I also don't see why if someone has worked for 40 years and managed to buy a house then finds themself without a job they should make themselves homeless? More homeless people is the last thing we need and they are far less likely to find another job without a fixed abode.

There are always a minority who take advantage of a system but does that mean all those genuine people should be cast aside? Given the choice I would rather my money went to this than on some of the crap the government spends money on.

Oh, thats crap.
Some people have genuine reasons for not working; mental health issues, unable to get a job, recently fired/made redundant, other commitments.

You can't round up every single person on benefits into "spongers".

You have problems - you do something about it. Write to the government, suggest a better option.
Unless you don't have any better ideas, shut up.

And why oh why is this in mental health?

They should all be forced to work and have their benefits stopped until they do work. If they live in big house they should be forced to sell them to live off the equity. If they show any assets at all such as flash cars, mobile phones, holiday caravans etc. This should be seen as an income and the items sold at auction and their benefits should be stopped while they live off the money. They should pay the Tax Payer a huge reward for grassing these people up and saving the government millions in the long run.

Totally agree - this country far too soft for people and makes it easy to just not work and stay at home - I know people on doll who have better tv. etc than me!!! I've worked since leaving school and the longest time I've had off is my two holiday in the summer! And now it seems when I retire I won't be enjoying it - I'll be working then my home that I've worked for all my life will be sold to pay for my old folks home! yet the people who haven't worked get it all paid for them! Makes me MAD AS HELL!

Some of us are too sick to work, and if we were abandoned by social security we'd probably go out looking to hurt people
