Best thing I've found is an iron cleaner. you can get some cheap stuff pretty much anywhere you can buy an iron. An Iron and a hair straightener work off the same principle, using the same type of metals, and the same ideas, therefore, they can have a lot of the same problems, because a lot of the products you put on your hair are similar to those put on fabrics, and used to help iron. So there are many brands, but a basic iron cleaner will do the job

Hi
Let the straightners heat up and squirt water on them and wipe quickly with kitchen roll, tissue etc. Wiping them when cooled down, wont clean them, they need to be hot so the product stuck to them can melt and comes off easier. But please dont scrape at the plates to clean them as if the ceramic plates gets marked, scraped etc, it will ruin them and they could end up snagging your hair and leaving split ends.
Hope that helps
Sharon

I have a karmin straightener and whenever I used it I let it cool down and wipe the plates after each use to avoid build up.

When cool use Wet Ones or something similar. Then dry with a paper towel.

Clean them when they have fully cooled down. putting cold water onto hot metal, can worp and reshape the metal. I would use a damp cloth, throughly wringed, and scrub gentley.

depends,,, if they are ceramic plated, you will have a job to get the gunk off without removing the plating, on the other hand, if they are solid ceramic like ghd, you can do pretty much what you like,,, ceramics are really tough materials thats why they are chosen for such hot appliances
