Mine would be Bill Hicks, unofficial leader of the Outlaw Comedians after Sam Kinison went screeching off the rails.
Hicks raged against hypocrisy, right-wing Christianity posing as morality and truth and the lowering of our intellectual standards through the medium of TV. He it was who first, to my knowledge, said:
"I asked some creationists 'If you think the world's 12,000 years old and the Bible covers it, I got one question for you: Dinosaur fossils?' And they siad 'We believe God put those here to test our faith.' Anyone else have trouble sleeping with that thought, the idea that God might be...f*cking with our heads?"

Bill Hicks died aged 33 (coincidence?) of cancer. He's probably turning in his grave at the war on terror and the BS it's brought with it. We've never needed his wisdom more...
