Can you explain this to me? Why it is that all of a suddenly we have Christians trying to tell (demand?) us atheists that atheism is a religion...then at the same time *some of them turn around and say that "Christianity isn't a religion!" What are *some trying to pull?

*I said SOME, no generalizing.

I'm not sure. Sounds a bit odd to me. Sounds like they are trying to take away the position of the atheist in a hope to debunk them.

I like how you say no generalizing...but you are still doing that . Not all believers think alike. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Here's mine.

Some people believe Christianity is a religion. Some people believe the two are totally different things. I did until I was taught the difference. I grew up in a "religion" and did allot of things at church that I never could find in the bible or was taught things that didn't line up with what the bible said. That left me conflicted and almost led me down the same path that many atheist have been on. Luckily I got out of religion and found Christ.

I am a christian who does not support the man-made beliefs traditions and practices of "religion". I go to a non-denominational church that follows the bible. End of story. If it isn't in the bible we don't believe it or do it. So that is why we Christians differ on the definition.

I agree I dont believe in religion, but I do believe in GOD and having a personal relationship.. Meaning when I need to read the BIBLE it does give me peace, and I know what GOD says about life, marriage, children, and I will go by those principles..(atleast try!!!) but i am not perfect, i got my own issues and it sucks too.. but that wasnt your question... If you are an athiest what does that mean to you? That your just living and then thats it? What type of hope do you have or peace? All of these things as we all know just last while we live.. What happens to you when you die? Or does that matter to you? Do your own homework and find out for yourself is being and Athiest right for you. And if its not, then find GOD. Ask him to give you a sign or the right person to talk to you properly with love.. Hope this helps.

taurus, i am a christian. i am truly concerned that you or anyone else would think that we are manipulative. i think some christians are insensitive to others. this is not the right way to be. there may be different reasons for their insensitiveness. but i don't think that i or any other human has the right to condemn anyone for their beliefs. only God can condemn anyone. and yes taurus there is a God. I wouldn't call atheism a religion. at the same time ,i would call christianity a religion, so i don't know where they get their reasoning from. on that point i agree with you. i know you don't believe in prayer. that is okay. but , it is my fervent prayer that you would consider the saving grace of Jesus. please don't let pseudo-christians keep you from having eternal life through Christ. i am not prosetylizing. but if i can help you in any way, please let me know. good luck to you.---blackmule

OK. Let me get this straight. SOME Christians say Atheism is a religion...and SOME Christians say Christianity isn't a religion. Why do people think Christian agree on everything. We don't. There goes the theory that we're all brainwashed robots.

LOL I haven't encountered that contrary bunch yet, but they sound a little confused to me. Let's all pitch in and send them a dictionary.

Religion is a set of beliefs which express a person's spirituality. If you have no spirituality, then you can't have any religion. It's that simple. Anyone who claims Christianity isn't a religion probably thinks that Earth isn't a planet. Crazy!

Peace

They say its not a "relgion" for the same reason I say Africa is not a country. There are some many denominations that no one can even say Christianity is a religion anymore. Although I believe it is, most people would probably think it more politically correct to say that Christianity isn't a religion, but each denomination is.

i SE NO EVIDENCE THAT ATHEISM IS A RELIGION AND FOR SURE NOT AN ORGANIZED ONE BUT I LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN. rEAL CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A RELIGION EITHER. i CAME TO know jESUS IN MY LIVING ROOM AND ALTHOUGH I DO NOT REJECT INDIVIDUAL CHURCH PEOPLE OPPS or gathering with them, I do not attend regulaly, and I am certain I know Jesus, and am equally sure if you wanted to be His freiend He would befriend you and respect anyones choice not to be His friend, after all when I retire I do not want a bunch of neighbors who do not want to be there. I do not think this is being manipulative DO YOU???

It takes just as much faith to believe there is no God, as it does to believe in God.

Christianity is a relationship with Christ, not a religion.

Religion is Satan's answer to man's god problem.

Christ is God's answer to man's sin problem.

We are trying to pull the blinders off your eyes!
